Calaisangleterre, That is a very fair assessment and we were lucky enough to be at the game. Amien definitely had most of the play in the first half and looked the side most likely to take the lead although there wasn't many clear cut chances. Calais were much better in the second half and had the majority of possession and chances. The best of which, in my opinion, came just before calais hit the post, when a player right in front of goal completely mis-kicked his shot (sorry, don't know the names). We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were near Porte K directly behind the Yellow Kop supporters and my daughters loved the drums and atmosphere and really got into cheering calais on. My oldest daughter who is 10 and a maidstone season ticket holder, was pretty vocal, but more surprisingly, my youngest (who's not that interested in football) was really shouting very loudly. At the end, I liked how some of the players came across shock hands with the Yellow Kop die hards. All in all it was very enjoyable, although the result was disappointing, and a calais win would have topped a lovely day . Thank you again for the advice. Keith

Surely it should be 'El classicoast'?
Although I guess the French translation wouldn't make much sense :/

We have seen Calais play 3 times and 3 draws...I hope it's not us. The first half was very much like the first half of the Amiens SC game with the away team in the ascendency. However, just before the break, Calais got a bit of luck when the away goalkeeper carried the ball into his own net...game on! The second half saw a much improved performance from Calais and equalised directly from a free kick taken out on the left wing near the corner (very similar to Orlando's goal directly from the corner). The last quarter of the game was riveting stuff and Calais deserved to take the 3 points; either from the one on one with the keeper, or from the penalty that I was pretty convinced should have been given when the substitute (no. 15) was clearly yanked back. Unfortunately, the refereeing at times was very similar to that in the Ryman Premier! Another fantastic day out and we will be back in March for the Marck game. Allez Calais and Come on you Stones.

Today's draw for the World Cup Finals, in Brazil, saw Les Bleus drawn in Group E - Switzerland, Ecuador, and the 6000 / 1 outsiders Honduras making up the rest of the group.A great draw for Les Bleus, who shall be expected to at least make the last sixteen.Les Bleus begin their tournament on 15/06/14 against Honduras, followed by Switzerland, on 20/06/14, and Ecuador on 25/06/14.Hopefully, we won't see a repeat of 2010....... And England at a wishful 33/1 ............................

Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse......It has been announced that Benkada ( our one other decent striker, in the absence of Danset) has quit the club.He is citing 'professional reasons', and has signed for Portel - currently 10th in the DH! Something has clearly gone-on (there have been rumours of difficulties in the player / manager relationship) - the official reason is that Portel can offer long-term, secure employment as a Council employee with the Sports and Leisure Dep't.So our strike force is now reduced to youth players given the step-up to the first-team.
At this rate, we could well be joining Portel in the DH, next season...... Sometimes the youngsters will play a darn site better. They don't really have too much to lose but a lot gain if they get spotted etc. You should be OK with them

It will be good for you to come see our home. I really enjoyed my visit to your ground. You did alright with getting your ground from the World Cup 98. I tried looking for it on FIFA 98 rtwc but couldn't find it!! Our ground is not as big as yours but I'm sure you will be impressed with it. It's of a good standard for a club in our league.

Yesterday's result Oissel 0 - Calais 2 A superb result for us, especially away, which puts us right back into contention for second place in the division (that is of significance as the four best runners-up, in the eight CFA2 divisions, are eligible for promotion. It would take a miracle for the DNCG to change its mind, but we could at least make our case again). We dominated the game, Drame opening the scoring on 40', and Razak slotting home the second on 47'.We go into third place, although Bastia (b)'s game was postponed, so they now have a game in hand.
In other games: Arras's game against Marck was postponed, so they still lead the division and now have three games in hand.Oissel remain second.Other results went well for us - Saint Ouen (5th) were held to a draw, by Noisy, and Quevilly (b) (6th) lost 4 - 0 to Gravelines.
Other news - the FFF have, once again, bypassed the Epopee for French Women's internationals. The Board really need to get the message that the current FFF just don't like the Epopee, and are never going to award us anything.
There has also been some excitement, in local media, with the news that the Club have been in talks with RC Lens about them using the Epopee as an alternative ground, while the Bolleart is being redeveloped in readiness for Euro 2016.There would appear to be some unsurmountable obstacles - at the moment, the Epopee is not Ligue 1 accredited, and is too small (12,500 capacity - even playing in Ligue 2, Lens had 15,000 season ticket holders, this season), so Lens have already said that if they go up, then we'll get nothing.Even in Ligue 2, the Epopee would have to have video surveillance installed, at a cost of 200,000E, so it would really have to be financially worthwhile.Personally, I think they'll end up playing in Valenciennes - Ligue 1 accredited (they are in Ligue 1 this season), and a capacity of 25,000.
