well I hope so unless the club are willing to write off 5k Stranger things have happened - if it was the club that paid the fee. And if King decides - as threatened - to take a year out, theres not much can be done about it

To get this on track for the first time...Stuart King is not more divisive than Thatcher

I asked you to discuss it rather than make a simple statement of opinion. Why is he not more divisive than Maggie.
I am glad someone has, at last, been able to read the original post.

Percentagewise he maybe, but Maggie was divisive amongst millions...something that Stuart King is not - yet.
In conclusion, Stuart King is not as divisive as Lady T

When the words ' Stuart King' become two swear words then that will be the time he becomes more divisive than the two that keep being repeated on this thread! I think that a moderator should be appointed to ban anybody using foul language!! Give the kid a chance - no one could ever be more divisive even amongst 2000 folk - yet. Mind you I have never seen Stuart king in action - unlike the other two words !! I totally agree with you Ant for what it is worth.

Can we get back now, to the more important statistics please? In what season did The Stones attract a crowd of 10 to 15 thousand people , depending on where you were standing of course, for a game ?? Probably around that time someone else was being very divisive is my guess ?
Great to see Goal of the Season come up on Stones TV and it is much appreciated. Time to find a pin and close my eyes to vote - all great goals in their different ways ?

It was either 78-79 or 79-80. I think the latter. It was a great night. I was standing in the ground at the London Road end and there was a big gap up there due to a puddle. I guess a squint at the capacity of the ground will help you decide where the truth lies on crowd figures

The Charlton 3rd round replay was on 15 January 1979. The official crowd figure was 10,700 (capacity), but there had been some counterfeit tickets issued, so there were probably more in the ground. Fans were standing 3 or 4 deep around the sides, including me, and the view was not good (cf the current discussion about the Gallagher). Campbell (23) and Robinson (53) scored for CAFC. Glenn Coupland got one back in the 86th minute, so the last few minutes at least were exciting. Especially when the lights went out for 18 minutes with only two minutes to go. Hales and Flanagan were absent, having been sent off for fighting each other in the first drawn tie - if only there were more of that today, great entertainment (not that I was there)!
I'll be asking questions later.

Like a few thousand other Stones fans, Charlton was my first game. My uncle, a regular supporter, took me along. When the floodlights went out a few teenagers got bored and climbed up a light at the railway end. Eventually, the announcer said words to the effect: "In 10 seconds there will be 20,000 volts going through those lights". The climbers dropped from on high and then had to flee across the pitch chased by a police dog.
As a nine year old boy it couldn't have got better than that. Except for the result, of course.

Hi , Stoned Boys ? That pitch at London Road had more puddles than grass as far as I can remember.
Head. Thanks for that memory Dude, . I seem to remember that a man named Knocker , who used to play mean darts up at The Saxon Chief and apart from digging graves for Barming Hospital and having the best racing pigeons in town. -
Was he the source of those dodgy tickets?
Regards to all and thanks for your memories of our Home Team.
Leafy Lane Boy.

Yes Kingy was divisive but the fact is for one reason or other he just didnt settle/fit in. I supported him during his time here but can't say I'm sorry to see him go. Am sure he'll do well back at Folkestone
