Having read all the posts and agreeing with most, I think an alcohol ban outside the spitfire lounge or segregate it to that corner by the turnstiles should be made with immediate effect. Yes I love a beer but i would forsake a pint for the good of a great club and getting it dragged through the gutter which we probably are at the moment on non-league forums . I suggest a steward on the way to the main stand, 2 behind the Townend and 1 ( a bit of a menacing type!) in front of the townend stand. I know this would meen moving the outside bar but is that really a problem. Interesting to know what other Stones fans think, if its a 'yes' it should be put to Terry,Oliver and Bill as an option for the next game. I absolutely agree with you Suffolkstone ( as I might have mentioned elsewhere up thread ). If that's what it takes, lets do it. Hope this is being covered at the Clubs Monday debrief. BTW were you enjoying the epic Superbowl when posting the above ( taking advantage of the power outage in Nwarleans ?? ).

Banning alcohol is a bit overkill. All you need is some stewards in the stand especially if any away supporters venture over. From the sounds of this thread everybody in here knows who the group is so the stewards can keep eyes on once pointed out.

Or have different categories of game....
v's Walton Casuals etc, no problem with away fans ( with all due respect ) hence lets all drink as much as possible. = Category A.
v's Kent teams / top of the league / games with away crowds / some control needed - make these Category B. ( no outside booze ).
[ sound like the premiership............ ]

"Grow up Suffolkstone it was no more than a bit of up-heated banter. They wound us up, we wound them up, a few words" 2:03am on a forum can be a big mistake!

If big clubs like Ipswich are campaigning for alcohol to be allowed with the massive support they get, surely banning it and costing the club/brewery money is not something we should feel forced to do for the sake of a few. Funding for a couple of burly stewards for a few games should pay for itself on this basis

How can you ever spot them again..? Well one was wearing a red bobble hat and jumper. Just play Where's Wally? Try here. The fella just to the left (not looking at the action which tells its own tale may know something of the events.) www.nhimages.net/p93899043/h54384ab6#h54387f18Now I wouldn't like to be a steward. I was chucked a bib once and hated it. If I may make a few suggestions; Create some space for the away supporters to gather (The far end of the City End stand for when they're shooting that way for example) and then just watch it from there. The moment that glass went on the pitch the penny should have dropped it wasn't going well and they should have been moved away or stewards there to defuse the situation. Why have people stand in front of the stands anyway? It obscures the view from the stand you have worked so hard to build. You have big crowds and you should consider some more professional stewards. You'd only need a couple as the flash point is rather obvious. Especially with a beer tent 10 strides away from their gathering position. Don't mean to be patronising, just some thoughts.

This is not a great thread to be commenting on to be honest but picking through it all what it shows to me is a great spirit from the majority of fans who care greatly for the club. It is that spirit and togetherness that will win through and if we work together with the club if will be easy to set this straight. I witnessed some of the carry on as I walked out. I'm always one of the last to leave my position, don't like to rush, and I wondered what was going on. I chose not to get involved at the time and having thought about it since I think it was the right thing to do. We can do our bit as fans but it is the club that needs to take the lead. I don't think the club should restrict alcohol and I don't think we should segregate fans. There will always be situations that arise but setting rules for me will only encourage an element to cause more problems and in the long run it will be damaging for the club. We should continue to adopt that relaxed family friendly feeling within the club, encourage interaction with our opposition and welcome those that have made the effort to travel to the gallagher with open arms ensuring that they enjoy their visit as much as we all do regardless of the outcome. This is one incident and I hope the club act accordingly but also sensibly in the interests of the majority. I have enjoyed my overall experience at the gallagher so far this season and I hope that continues on and off the field.

I once walked straight by a portly lady in a steward jacket then the guy with learning disabilities at the top of the stairs towards the start of the season only to find myself in the VIP area. Upon realising my error went into the stand the correct way. If the rest of the stewards are that inept I dread to think. Having said that the chap on the mainstand is a lovely gent considering some of the flack he takes. The Chap on the Main Stand is Councillor Naghi ( I think ) a force for good at both a Political & Football level. Take a bow Dave, your a Gent of the highest order..........

On behalf of Maidstone United FC, may I reiterate the comment made by Terry Casey on Sunday that we will not tolerate bad behaviour at the Gallagher Stadium.Let's not forget, we have been open just over six months. In that time more than 30,000 spectators have enjoyed watching their home team in their home town. We will not allow the actions of a handful of people to tarnish this club's good name or spoil the enjoyment of all those who come to watch a game of football. As a club, we are learning something new every matchday. The stewarding team are working on completing a nationally-recognised qualification and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the stewards for the valuable contribution they make. You can help by informing the stewards, all of whom are in hi-vis jackets, of any future issues. There will be additional stewards at home games, which we hope reassures you. We want you all to enjoy the time you spend with us. In the meantime, please familarise yourself with the ground regulations www.maidstoneunited.co.uk/ground-regulations/ and be assured we are working to eradicate any bad behaviour. Ian Tucker, club secretary.

Haven't seen those before; are they new? Mostly sensible, but I would question how flags and banners could be used as a weapon (not that I've seen a ban on flags and banners actually enforced so far), and also whether it is necessary to ban people from standing in seated areas three separate times!

I have so far not commented, as I was at the Sprigfield end during the second half. However, the regulations say, among other things: 11. The throwing of any object within the ground is strictly forbidden. 12. The use of foul and abusive language, threatening behaviour, obscene chanting, or racist abuse towards any person is strictly forbidden. Does the chant '' the referee is a w..ker constitute an obscene chant? as this was clearly heard and came from the Sprigfield end?

Always an area of great debate. Try promoting chants such as, 'Sunday league referee', or 'You don't know what you are doing', before the more obscene chant gets going.
