The sheer potential of the club! The club currently has 2000 very loyal fans attending every week. But I honestly believe by constructing a 700 seated stand along the river side with a dedicated family section plus a Genco type stand replacing the dreadful town end shed it would likely almost double home crowds because the match day experience would so much better and safer for everyone especially those with families. The extra revenue created could be directed into the playing budget easily substaning a national league side and again increasing interest in the town of 130.000 people. Just look at the thousands of so called plastics like myself who could easily be persuaded not to travel to London with their kids every Saturday. Speculate to Accumulate because we could be so much bigger. What made you stop coming? Never completely stopped coming just cut it down to a few matches a season so that I could see more QPR games. Without upsetting friends who are far bigger Stones fans then I will ever be I will simply say the same reason many other have stopped coming. But Maidstone Utd along with QPR will always be in my heart. COYS!

Rubbish. There is a lot of difference between the behaviour of the Yeovil Yobs and our fans. We take a lot of away support and most grounds are not segregated and we do not have instances of flare throwing or violence. Some of our chanting is not to my taste but that seems to be part of football and to some extent provides the atmosphere that separates football from other sports like rugby. We have our share of idiots but they do not put people in fear.

The moronic teenage element were in full flow yesterday. Seem to have 0 interest in whats happening on the pitch. Hemel fan allegedly ejected for throwing sweets at our yobs (kind of funny but also a nailed on way to miss the rest of the game).
I’m not sure that this is a problem exclusive to Maidstone but as a club without that traditional non league feel the kids look to premier league footballing behaviours to influence their own which is why we don’t encounter this problem elsewhere. Think the problem is symptomatic of the state of society as much as pointing fingers at security and segregation setups.

The last two posts are interesting. Pigbag notes that we take a lot of support without segregation. Stones1 notes that without the 'non-league feel' kids look to premier league footballing behaviours.
I know there were some but how many incidents were there prior to segregation. When Barrow's big lads stood in the middle of our fans and chanted and sang, they were not attacked. Why, when given the opportunity, did people not go for them or make any show of going for them?

Good point. Unless a team has a reputation for causing violence I would like to see segregation removed. I suspect that there are not many of the idiots that really want a fight but they feel Billy Big Bollocks if they can hurl insults knowing they are protected by a barrier and the stewards. Alternatively have 3 areas. One for peaceful home fans, one for peaceful away fans and a third for those that wish to risk their remaining brain cell by confronting others of a similar ilk. If the football is boring we would have an alternative entertainment to watch.
I don't remember there being segregation at the London Road ground even for the big FA Cup games. I stood at Critics Corner. I remember one cup game when at the whistle the away fans charged across the pitch towards us from the railway end and we all made for the exit. I was too big to duck under the barrier and and got caught in the crush with one leg over it. Does anyone remember which team we were playing?
