This article says two metres, which feels like a lost opportunity as nobody else will ever be able to make use of the rest of it. www.kentonline.co.uk/maidstone/news/clubs-joy-over-council-u-turn-135765/This looks like some of the fence cut open at the opposite corner, so the disused road can become an exit for the EE. Can’t see the away tea hut. View AttachmentIf the TE and Riverside are to become the permanent away end in the NL, there will need to be seats, no matter how basic. Are you saying the new path follows the blue line around the edge of the site? I think the red line is the new home exit. View AttachmentThat's pretty much it. It starts just to the left if the main gate (maybe they'll put an away supporters gate next to the main?), then it follows the edge of the car park to the new hardstanding 'circulation' area, which leads directly to the TE/riverside corner turnstiles. There is currently no connection with the new riverside path, as there is a fenced off storage area in-between. One odd thing - the two paths are made from white stone, but the circulation area is dark grey stone. No idea if this is accidental or some H&S or FA/NL requirement. I took some photos - I'll try to post them later.

Incidentally, 2m sounds ridiculous - literally only as wide as the new path. That must be a mistake, as it wouldn't be worth buying such a narrow strip of land.
I'd guess it's more like 5 or 6m.
If it is only 2m, someone needs to explain what on earth they were thinking!
Edit: having now checked a few articles, it appears that it IS only a 2m wide strip! So, basically, if hbs laid down across that strip, there wouldn't be much space left...
We'll have to go to all the expense of moving the fence, etc and extending the standing area, just to gain a measly 6'6"!

For one thing, there’s nowhere near 5m between the current fence and the path leading up to the bridge, and secondly the council would want to retain a buffer zone between the ground and the footpath. I think the plan was to have enough space to build the riverside stand within the current footprint, move the fence back and access the stand from the rear.

Why would the council want to retain a buffer zone? What would that achieve?

Why would the council want to retain a buffer zone? What would that achieve? If I remember rightly it was about preventing development right up to the river bank. That that was why they were reluctant to sell the land in the first place.

Assuming they sold us up to the footpath to the bridge, nobody is getting flats on that sliver of triangular land. And it would be easy to include development restrictions in the sale. But it’s done now and hypothetical. We could have used it for storage, catering, or an interesting bigger stand one end of the riverside.

Not convinced there will be a new exit there as one already exists next to the turnstiles. Maybe the path is just for accessing the media hummock. The “recirculation area”. Makes sense if hundreds of away fans are queueing before the game. Not joined to the riverside path and won’t be if the riverside path doesn’t have an exit. The new footpath leading to the recirculation area. Wonder if a fence will be put in to stop rowdy away fans rampaging across the car park. May need a gate next to the main gate.

I’m sure these signs used to point to different ends. This must be where the new EE exits gate will be. Nothing to do with Maidstone United. The old sorting office making way for flats?
