Off thread, sorry, but my foggiest game was in September 1966, when Gillingham played Arsenal in a League Cup replay. At our end, we could almost see to the halfway line, but had no-idea what was happening at the far end. I couldn’t understand how the ref was able to control the game, but apparently it was a 1 - 1 draw, Charlie Rackstraw scoring Gillingham’s goal with a penalty, equalising Tommy Baldwin’s opener. Strangely enough I was at that game with my Dad and Uncle we stood on the old Town End terrace and we had a great view of the fog rolling in from the Medway but not of the game

Even game. We scored one of our half chances. They didn’t. Not much else to say.
We seem to edge a lot of games. We didn’t really blow teams away, no pun intended.

1-1, so presumably they took one of their chances?

Yeah from a corner. We should have scored after that but we huffed and puffed without much creativity.
If it when we go out of the cup at the weekend we need to seriously work out how to score goals without Levi otherwise we will lose in the playoffs against anyone half decent

Goalkeeping error from a corner cost us two points. Also a couple of miscommunications with his defence in the first half could have been much worse. Needs to get back in form asap

Hard to know who is dumber. Braintree fans chanting Ipswich at our fans chanting Ash out.
Terrible game. George trying to rebuild a team in a hurricane mid season, days before one of the biggest games in our history.

Bit of a scratch side tonight - with no Bone, Corne and Greenidge -hopefully all just rested. Didn't really deserve more than a point.

George trying to rebuild a team in a hurricane mid season, days before one of the biggest games in our history. Concise, but accurate summary. Horrible mess of a game. If Braintree's forwards could hit the proverbial barn door at 10 paces we'd have been stuffed. Dirty side, too, especially Pavey - was he trying to prove a point? George still has the benefit of the doubt from me, but it's getting harder to believe each game. If that's the best we can do with [/]forwards, then Saturday is going to be live TV nightmare. And after that... who knows. But it's not looking good.

Agree with most of the realistic posts about tonight - it was an awful game ti watch with zero quality and we did well to get a point. Most disappointing was that the whole game was either head tennis or hoofball and any attempt at making more than two passes to the feet always ended up going backwards to the keeper for him to - of course - hoof it upfield for poor little mighty mouse tanga to get lucky or Levi lookalike Mo to use his height to head the ball forward for more head tennis. Very very little actual football. An Ipswich fan watching it would be having bets on how far into double figures they will go on Saturday. But football is a funny game and these very average NLS players in the black and yellow have somehow defied all logic and got to the 4th round of the cup and top five in the league. Saturday could be anything from an amazing one goal win to a draw to a 10-0 drubbing - you just can’t call it. COYS!

Forward line aside, hope we can put out a full strength team on Saturday and not be embarrassed. After that, Team George need to get the players heads back in bread and butter league mode, to avoid the season fizzling in a same but different way to last year - which would be a real shame. There is nobody special in our league this season - even Yeovil are only well clear because they are grinding out results. As for playoffs, that has to be the aim and preferably the semis. Beyond that, not bothered because we still don't look ready for the NL, although if we were to get new investors and withTeam George a year wiser, who knows?

It only happens perhaps once in a career for players and maybe a handful of times for fans at this level of the game to be exposed to the level of interest we are experiencing at the moment. Older fans might compare this to our other great FA Cup runs culminating in glorious defeats at Vicarage Road, Bramall Lane and to a lesser degree Feethams, but the level of attention in the digital world of the 21st century is absolutely off the scale and that can only be good for the club.
We are in a reasonably good place in the league, we must be financially pretty secure for now, and the future is looking positive so I for one rate this season a success. However, it is common belief that cup competitions provide distractions and our league form recently can only be described as "patchy" but I for one am more than ready to forgive that in the context of our FA Cup heroics.
There are at least twenty other clubs in our league that would love to be in our overall position, let's enjoy the ride and get behind the players and management.

Realistically, if we’re to compete in the league we have to hope for the expected result on Saturday. Much as I’d love us to pull off the biggest shock in our history we need to get back to normality.
