The problem with going for a play-off place is that we may just get lucky. Promotion is def a poisoned chalice to be avoided at any cost. Securing a 6th or 7th place finish wouldn't be so bad imo.

Worst Home performance of the season. Some of the players just not good enough. Tactics completely wrong to break down 2 banks of 4. At times we played 4 in centre back position, Corne wasted there. Didn’t look like 2100+ there today. Heading for mid table by the time Stevenage get their win.

Reading the Torquay forum has a similar disgruntled feel to it, and they’re one point and place above us in the league. Maybe we need to readjust our expectations in the first season after the disaster that was last season. We’re doing OK, nothing more nothing less.

Seemed lively early on, but we are a very patched up side today and look it. Screamer of a goal for them, but piss poor clearance that led to it. Ref not exactly on his game and as for the riverside lino, how was their player, injured off the pitch, allowed to roll back on and stop the game? Also, four minutes of added time signalled and the ref blew after three, including thirty seconds he wasted himself. We are not going to get anything from him today. Hopefully, George can sort us out over half time, because Chippenham are cruising at the moment and we look like we can't be bothered. Injured player should have been booked, as should the bench who told him to get back on the pitch before treating him. And did we have a sniper in the ground somewhere. Never seen so many feigned injuries.

Its all beginning to look very pedestrian. Not much quality on show. Play-offs ? Not on this showing, or the one before that, or the one before that ! Looks like sticking plaster loan's, àlthough I like young Appiah. We are a top 10 NLS side. Promotion this season would need a squad rebuild from top to bottom and not feasible.

I was glad Appiah was back, and I liked the cut of Busby Berkeley's jib too.

We will need a squad rebuild in the summer no matter what league we are in, that's just how non league is. Most players don't stay at clubs long, just look at Amantchi he's now on his 10th club in less than 5 years.

Every time Appiah goes forward, he looks dangerous. Get Greenidge fit and putting Chariots up front might just work. Highlights are in. Should that have been a Maidstone throw before their goal? Less than a minute covers the whole of the second half, which pretty much sums it up.

New signing made more of an effort than some yesterday, but as George said after the match, they played far too safe - sign that shedding so many goals recently has affected confidence, perhaps. Chippenham came for a draw, so will be delighted to go back with all three points, but neither keeper had much to do and suspect the highlights will struggle to find much of any interest. Liam Sole tried to have an impact when he came on, running at defenders and trying to beat them, but with precious little height up front and a very crowded penalty area, we needed to move the ball quicker out of defence. Instead, we were content to pass the ball about in our own half and look for long balls into the channels. That can work, but not if nobody bothers to run into spaces - plus we are still not good enough with set pieces, so corners and free kicks rarely lead to anything. Could all change on Boxing Day, of course, but with Sol out of form and no Bone or Bivesh in midfield, never mind losing Levi, we look very ordinary again. Spot on. When Chippenham got the ball, they attacked, we just played it sideways and backwards in our own half, and then half-heartedly lumped it forward. They looked no more likely to score than we did, but got lucky - but you only get lucky if the ball - AND the players - are up that end of the pitch.
