Our first repeat fixture on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see if Worthing are more up for it than when they came to the G and were still holding out for 0-0 when four down.
Will Luque play and if so, will they give him the ball?
Worthing like to score and are averaging nearly two per game, but they let in a few as well, so maybe that points to 0-0. They are in the play off places, so it ought to mean something to both sides, though on the penultimate Saturday before Christmas maybe shopping will be more important?
Team George meanwhile has to roll the dice up front again, with no Levi and the loan signing suspended, presumably? Rush and A N Other?

Recently Luque has been in and out of the side, last appeared as a sub.
Greg Luer and Joe Felix are regulars too.

The stats (for what they're worth) appear to be in our favour, with Stones currently at 4th on form with 12 points (LWWLWW), and Worthing at 12th with 8 points (LWDWLD).
On 4 game form (which I think gives a better view of current form), we drop one place with three wins and one loss (bloody St Albans), and Worthing drop 2, with one win, two draws and one loss.
But home and away form tells a different story - Worthing's recent home form isn't bad (WLWD), but our away form has collapsed, with just 4 points out of 4 games (DLWL).
As for goals, both sides are leaking badly, with 9 goals against in the last 4 home for Worthing, and 9 against in the last 4 away for us. But, whereas we've only managed to score 6 goals away (GD -3), Worthing have scored more than twice as many (13) at home (+4).
Considering that we are also without 2 of our nominal 3 forwards, and that the Spanish Revenge is overdue, my usual prediction of 4-0 looks even sillier than usual...
But - in George we trust. After all, he thinks we can "hit the ground running" in the NL...

Well the bookmakers cannot separate the two sides with BetFred the only site to have us favourites by 0.1 pts. The draw is 5/2 and both teams are 7/5 to win. We need to stabilise today by not losing but if we could sneak it then we have a good chance of closing the 7 pt gap to Yeovil who will have their hands full with Hampton&Richmond. I've predicted defeat because of last weeks heavy defeat and with so many injuries we are no doubt weaker at the moment,hopefully I'm wrong again.

Covolan returns to play his old club where by all accounts he was popular.
Let's hope he does well as he normally does.
Hello again to Luque who must be hoping for a better performance and result than at the Gallager.
Expect a closer match with only a single goal betwen the teams.

I was not yet convinced that some of those playing today are better than Aransibia. The score has done nothing to change my opinion.

Sounds like the wheels are coming off. 0-3... The wheels are well and truly off - as is Bivesh after a two footed studs up tackle. FA Cup euphoria seems to have bred complacency and lack of desire in the league, sadly. Hopefully a half time hairdryer from George may see some pride restored isn the second half but with ten men difficult to see any chance of any points. Robinson, Luer and Luque all on the bench as well! |
