I luv it when people talk about sensibly investing in the club when what they really mean is flushing their childrens inheritance down the toilet.

Sole & Aransibia were the standout players for me. I thought that Gurung was the only poor performer as he seemed off the pace. Were Eastbourne Gillingham's KSC team in disguise? Agree about Gurung. Not even sure what his role is. Surely not a DM because he can’t tackle and is pretty much a guaranteed yellow card every game. Having said that I can’t see what he gives is going forward either. Not an easy CM to be in when the game is basically played around and over you.

Had Eastbourne taken their two chances, it could have been a very frustrating evening. They didn't though and their lack of ambition was akin to Worthing's. Or was it more because we never gave them a chance? Will be interesting Saturday at H&R, because they are very much the form team and have been on a good run. Too many NLS sides seem to be playing safety first football at the moment, happy to defend in depth and hope for a breakaway. Hence the first half when we were allowed to pass the ball about in our own half. Scoring early seems the key, as it forces teams to change plans and, post match, we now know George has plans B and C at least, which is definitely two more than Hak did! Three more than hack did.

Is he out injured? I thought we missed him a lot. Gurung is OK and has his moments, but I don't really understand what George sees in him. But obviously he does see something - perhaps he does a job George thinks needs doing, or he's just a good player to have in reserve (especially in time like this, with so many games before Christmas). I was impressed by Iandolo on Saturday, though - first time I've seen him play more than a cameo role. Looked very fit and strong, and gave Chesham something to think about. Mind you, in my current glasses-less state, and with the amazingly awful Chesham PA, I initially thought he was Riley Court - so might have confused the Chesham fans standing around us! Also impressed with Rush last night - a good addition to the side. Once he settles in, I think he might be the missing link in our attack. Anybody out there still think George can't get decent players in??

I luv it when people talk about sensibly investing in the club when what they really mean is flushing their childrens inheritance down the toilet. Yeah, I agree. I meant investing in the loosest sense ( Not necessarily expecting an ROI financially).

I reckon one of the items on George's remit was to bring in some of the U23 and home grown talents. I think the U23 needed to justify it's existence and justify it's budget. This was something Hak was very slow at or unwilling to do. Jeche slipped through our net to, a certain extent, as we didn't play him. I am all for it as long as the players are good enough.
Gurung might not set the world on fire but he doesn't stand out as poor in my opinion. He is a good squad player and we will need him. You need all sorts of players on all sorts of wages!! You can have a squad full of top earners. You need some players who would be happy to be on the bench most weeks. If you aren't playing him at home against Eastbourne when Corne is injured, when do you?

Not much chance of me taking them to either! I was expecting demands to go to Disney Land when we went to the States in the summer, but neither suggested it! (Thank God.) Just realised they've never been to the New Forest or the Isle of White, so that's an idea for a holiday this year (lot cheaper than the US!!)

Feed him and he will score! Their ball acoss the goal two and a half minutes in still gives me palpitations though. Fowler did so well there, it could easily have gone in - real heart in mouth moment.

Apparently the club has declared that the private box of two rows at the top of the Manchett for those who have splashed the cash to buy seats in it after the Eastbourne game won’t let anyone in wearing jeans or trainers or most crazy of all, if they are wearing Stones football shirts, and only let in those in “smart casual” dress code. Incredible class based snobbery for 2023 and what does it say of the clubs true opinion of most of its fans who wear the shirt on match days - which is they are plebs who are a class below those who own the club and pay to sit in the private box. They are happy to take their money at the club shop to buy the team shirt but not to have such pleb fans spoiling their prawn sandwiches. Is that why it’s so quiet - to refer to another thread- because the club has become a soulless snob fest lacking true personalities and an affinity with true fans? Mmmmmmm
