A real test for Stones in Saturday. Nothing to do with six point games and the like, while we need to win three or four on the bounce to stir up any hope of avoiding relegation. What interests me more is whether our performance at Eastleigh can translate into something more positive in the league. George has clearly been working on corners, while having Alabi alongside Barham up front seems to give us more of a goal threat. However, it is attitudes that matter as much on Saturday. It was a classic, dull 0-0 at home, with Oldham every bit as ordinary as us. George has been working on players' confidence as well as strategy, so will it all come together and get us a win, or will players go back into their shells again? Cross everything and let's hope that the travelling faithful are rewarded for a second game in a row.

Every relegation battle that ends with a team staying up that I can recall, there seems to be a talismanic striker finding form at the right time and putting away goals in a run of games - even if we can't stay up, it would be fun to see us really give it a go and take it to the final few games.
Heading up tomorrow for this one. Call me eager but taken a few days off work to have a gander around Manchester - any recommendations in central Manchester for pubs / food / activity / etc??

My untrustworthy, black and amber heart says we can still do it, but my head just wants a fighting, joyful end to the season. A primer for what is to come next year, as George's team take the NS apart.

This small rise is purely down to Dorking plummeting down the form table. We need a run of results in the next 4 games and if Dorking remain winless our chances of survival may yet improve again but then there is that harder than hard run in which just looks impossibly difficult.

But if we bothered about minor inconveniences like reality, none of us would be football fans. Or we'd all support Man U or City or Le Arse - which is much the same thing...

Yes they were ordinary but we made them look half decent.

Just to flag, buying tickets for this ine in advance on the Oldham site is cheaper than buying on the day by a couple of quid.

Also noticed our noisy neighbours over the hill are away to Rochdale, a mere 7 miles down the road to Oldham.
The train from and to Manchester could be interesting if 2 sets of Kent yoof end up in close proximity.

Looking at the bookies odds it's no surprise that Oldham are 10/11 favourites whilst the Stones are 13/5,the draw 12/5. Oldham are not setting the world alight and we go full of confidence after Eastleigh therefore 13/5 is good money. I will be backing us in a very speculative big dosh treble, check the Swordy thread for details from tomorrow .COYS!

Here you go! www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/tickets/oldham-athletic-away/That said, I've been subjected to the spin dryer of death for the last twenty minutes - poor website that. A cynic might suggest that they prefer to get the extra couple of quid on sales on the day. Literally seconds later it bloody worked! If you are trying to buy and it won't move on, restart the order and order a different ticket, that seems to refresh at their end.

Just occurred to me how oddly circular life is at times.
In the 80s we dreamed of a new stadium and playing 4th division sides, and now here we are, in a new stadium - and playing 4th division sides!
