There def is 4G with the main difference to 3G being that it has no infill.
More recently developed than 3G and not approved for competition by any of the main sporting bodies.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread, but Stones favourite Jamie Coyle is now player / manager at Ramsgate. Do that's their 'new direction'... Always referred to by my Harry Potter loving daughter as Goyle - so, whoever he played alongside automatically became Crabbe!

You surprise me swordy. Surely you know the difference between 3G and 4G ? As a starter for '1' what do we have at the Gallagher, 3G or 4G ? Let's get it right, first time. Unless things have changed there is no 4G. Just different grades of 3G of which ours is the highest. The next level up is the sort of hybrid Arsenal Ladies play on. A hybrid Arsenal that ladies play on? I feel we need to know more about this...

Not convinced daveu has got this right.
Arsenal play at the Emirates on hybrid grass which is a surface use by quite a few Premier clubs.
Arsenal ladies play at Boreham Wood fc, which has a surface called grass.

But what exactly is a hybrid grass playing suface ? The only stuff I can find is that its a special grass seed that germinates well, has lots of resiliance etc. Apparently the same as Arsenal's. Whichever way you look at it, its still grass. Not sure why daveu is banging on about the ladies.

This is typically done in 2 ways, either stitching the fibres into the natural turf, or laying an artificial grass carpet on top of the natural grass.

The Emirates uses the stitching method.
Just 3% artificial fibres and 97% natural grass.

Google this or look it up on YouTube - there's loads of stuff out there. Some amazing technology involved too. Check out Wembley and the new Spurs stadium. for instance. Makes 3G look like plastic carpet covered in rubber granules...
