http://instagram.com/p/ChsWepTreu- He will always be someone I wonder just how good of a career he would've had if he didn't get injured back in 2014/15. Seemed like he was destined for a career in the Football League, but that injury ruined everything.

Yeah he was quality, could have played higher but for that injury, and what a throw, wow.

Not just the skill either, always gave 100% when he was on the pitch and a delight to watch. Hopefully, the Super Al chant will be a reminder of how much he was liked here.

No keeper in the world would've saved that. Absolute thunderbolt.

Blimey - a trip down memory lane. Insane defending too! Shows just how far we've come in just 10 years. We forget all too easily how much better both the football and the facilities are now. Although there was something - I'm not sure what - about those IS days that I miss as well.

Agreed, we had more chance of a giant killing in our cup runs.

Actually if you remember, Salisbury were top of their division at the time, and one step higher than us in the pyramid - they were a money-bags club in those days. This looked a very tough ask for us on paper. I agree that the defending was shocking just before Flish struck that beauty. How he he punished them for it!

This looked a very tough ask for us on paper. I agree that the defending was shocking just before Flish struck that beauty. How he he punished them for it! That was how I remembered it - it was practically a 'giant killing' - that's why the crowd is so enthusiastic. Must seem odd to any newbies watching this! For those of us who only came back in 2012 and had never experienced lower-league football, this was the first real indication that this 'new' club could go places. Flish was a very special player - much more than just a good non-league footballer. With his combination of skill and power, his amazing throws, and his never-say-die attitude, he was crucial to our success - and was easily capable of playing at a much higher level (as he proved). Football lost a potential star because if his persistent injuries. Even when past his best, he could (and frequently did) change a game as a super-sub. I feel much the same about Tom Mills - different skills and attributes, of course, but just as crucial to our early success. It's quite something, in these days if hype and money, to think about his talent and attitude. He nearly gave the game up, and it was never his first priority, yet he climbed the league's from IS to NL with ease and style. No disrespect to our owners and Bill, but they made some awful mistakes with our first NL promotion (not the least sacking Jay). But perhaps the biggest mistake was to go 'full-time', so we lost players like Flish and Mills - and our continuity to the past. And before posters leap on to point out that Flish was already past his best because of his injuries - how many of us still wouldn't have had him on the bench? Even now, I'd be much happier with our situation and prospects, with a player like Flish (and Mills) in the side.

"some awful mistakes" ?
Sounds like they got a lot wrong.
I don't think so.
I think they got a lot right.
Would they do somethings differently with hindsight ?
Almost certainly, but let's be happy with what the owners have achieved

That was our first season back in town. We were Ryman South, they were Conference South. It was a great day, absolutely pissing down and their manager kept them out on the pitch at half time. They improved second half but not by much.
