Just been informed that £40 000 in 1618 is the equivalent of £7,190,000. Perhaps if today's politicians were fined accordingly they would behave themselves.

Interesting reading through this and the bias for the bookies so far (apart from your big win).
Every single week for, I'd say, 6 or so years I've bet on each of mine and my close mates teams to win: Maidstone, Charlton, Arsenal, Tottenham, Palace and Sheffield Wednesday.
Just a bit of fun and I only put about a quid on it, but for those 6 teams to all win I've literally only won once! You'd think every week for 6 years it would come in a few more times at least but that always for me shows how difficult it is to win bets. Even with consistency over a long time it rarely comes in!

It's not easy and since Covid seems to have got harder plus the bookies are being more shrewd with their prices. Last year wasn't good but still finished up, this year has been terrible but I'm still up at the moment. I could play safe and try to win just £ 10 per week over the course of the season but although profitable it would be boring. The bookies are usually the winners but I am personally well up on them over the years. |
