Also, (I’m getting into this now) I remember the horrific echoing sound of bone on bone cracking around the stadium when (I think) Paul Goyette broke his leg at home in a tackle. Sounded like snapping a chicken bone and then the whole crowd winced! I wonder if the Gallagher has the same acoustics? Hopefully will never be tested!

My memory (not to be trusted) is that he came on as a sub (new player?), ran across the pitch and got taken out in his first contact with the opposition. And never played for us again. Some/all of that may be wrong, but it makes a better story that way. Certainly was a hell of a crack though, and you're right about the way it seemed to echo round the ground - and the crowd wincing. A bloke near me with a better view said he saw the bone sticking out!

I remember going to Barnet at Underhill (the amazing sloping pitch). We travelled from London Road on a supporters bus all the way, only to lose the game but we were already promoted I think. It was such a long way as a kid and I was really cheesed off that I had spent all my pocket money on the bus ticket and entry fee…a whole £6.00! And it was a double decker bus

We had a minibus to an FA Cup game once (Bishop's Stortford). That must have looked impressive!
