Sorry accidentally posted this message in the York Enjoyed that 1-1 game yesterday, shame about the sending off though that must be frustrating for any player being sent off first game into a season. I am slightly baffled by one team selection and I see Hak say it’s such a close call regards to the keepers and yh Mersin had a decent game yesterday, but I have some stats here regards to Mersin and I don’t understand the close call- Played 7 for Stones, never kept a clean sheet, a howler at Home to Hungerford, 3 poor goals away to Welling, all in 7 matches last season! Let in 4 times as many goals during pre season with equal minutes played but our number 2 in Mersin starts the season in goal, wonder what made Hak justify that selection pre match when the stats don’t lie. Hadler and all the defence played a massive part in our success last season and can’t be good for our number 1 keepers confidence when he had a good season last season and a better pre season than his competitor but still doesn’t start the season in goal Bad enough having Ellul and JBW injured then having your number 2 in goal aswell, odd You are right jr, it is a strange one. It was a surprise last season when Hak and Terry recruited a short term replacement keeper, when the team was on a poor run. Why pick on Hadler ? Yes he had made a couple of errors but it did seem he was scapegoated. Supporters have seen plenty of Hadler and enough of Mersin. No way is it a close call for me Tom Hadler is def number 1. More than happy enough with Mersin as number 2 but that's it. Hak just sees it differently.

All a bit disrespectful to our keeper yesterday who helped us earn a point. Hak says there is nothing between them and he watches them in training all the time. I trust his judgement.

Please yourself steve, Mersin is decent but not imo up to Being Stones number in a regular basis. Whatever happens in training it is competitive league matches thst matter. By all accounts Mersin play well yesterday, no surprise there, but it doesnt make him a better keeper.

Hak has said previously that in his book there us nothing to choose between the keepers. Fair enough but Tom Hadler has proven himself to me in dozens of competitive matches. Imho he should be Stones number 1. Hak sees it differently.

Tom Hadler played such an important part in ensuring that Stones had the league's best defensive record last season.
Supporters saw a lot of him and a little of Mersin, very few would doubt who is Stones better keeper.
How pre-season has changed everything, I dont know, but something must have happened.
No slight on Mersin, I like him, he's a good keeper

By the sounds of it, we got away with one here, like people have said would have taken a point away from home, interesting that a comment on their forum says they won't play a side much worse than us all season and we will struggle. Interesting view from their side. We were on top for first 30 minutes and could quite easily have been 2 up which would have won us the game. They did have a purple patch for the next 30 minutes, but after Hadi was sent off, yusef never had a single save to make. Yes we were under pressure with 10 but they never really looked like scoring. Now I’ve had chance to see the game on camera and not from the far end, if hadi’s was a sending off offence then barham should have had a penalty. Both look pretty similar offences, arms out on the attacking player. Woods could even have won it for us if he could have got his shot away cleaner. All in all a well deserved point. Alti seemed to run out of steam and ideas. Motm for me was roarie. Cawley and George were exceptional also, and Cornes fitness level was immense.

Highlights suggest to me it was very much a deserved point. Rode our luck a bit, but didn't deserve the sending off and Ghandor very unlucky, especially as referees have been told let play go on with those sorts of tackles. The thirty yards of continuous shirt pulling that led to their yellow card another matter entirely, while also thought the ref was right in not giving them a penalty. Looked like one of those accidental collisions that forwards like to make far too much of. Deacon is pretty good at it too.

oh nice, thank you. I'll have a search. Trouble is if you set your record to watch them they are tagged onto the end of the live show so you miss the 1st few games. They were repeated today at 11am today so hopefully a better package on a designated highlights show. BT in general is a horror show - I use the app on my Smart TV. I can watch stuff live, but nothing works if I try and watch it back, it comes up with an error. £25 a month and I ended up watching the highlights show on YouTube for free. Pointless.

He has this reputation of 'professional' gamesmanship, but from what I see, he is mostly sinned against. He constantly gets knocked about in games and often gets clattered completely (with the ref very rarely seeming to notice). There's been quite a few games where he's been hit so often and so hard, that I've been surprised he's managed to finish the game. And if SL's commentary was anything to go by, he's going to get even more of it this season. They were saying that Altrincham seemed to be deliberately trying to wind him up to get him sent off. They did something similar with Christie when he came on too - three on one whenever he got the ball.

It gets highlighted when it’s a goalie but outfield players are dropped for form all the time. Also, has Hak said he chose Mersin over Hadler? Maybe Hadler has a knock?

Minute 14:58 if you want to skip to our game. Does anyone know why the Wrexham and Solihull highlights aren't included?

Minute 14:58 if you want to skip to our game. All 20 seconds of it. This is why I gave up my BT TV. They're really only interested in the ex EFL clubs.
