A 1-1 draw to start the season. Can live with that. Last time we slipped into the national we did a 1-1 against York. One point towards avoiding relegation. Who we got next? At home? With NWS locked away in some provincial spanish jail? Provincial? I'm having a bacon and cheese sandwich by Mestalla Stadium, bruv🤣🤣

It's a shame we couldn't keep the lead but agree that a point is a decent start. We'll done to those predicting the draw I went for a loss by 2. Enjoy your evenings

Well…… we started well. Maybe first 20 mins then Altrincham took over tbh and still looked a level above us. As always cannot fault our effort but not quite sure how we escaped with a point!!!!

With NWS locked away in some provincial spanish jail? We'd all have taken 1-1 before the game. But this wasn't just a draw, from the sending off, the grit we showed makes it worth far more than that. This is a weakened Stones side, plus (according to SL) a highly dodgy sending off, up against a side everybody was talking up before the game. Yet we come home with a bloody well earned point. Well done Stones. Incidentally, that was an excellent commentary from SL, well up to pro standards. I've always thought Fred was our best commentator, with Chris a close second, but today's man (I missed his name) was the best I've heard on SL. And his no 2 was exactly what you need - allowing the commentator to do his stuff, but also providing excellent backup, plus an interesting personality of his own.

Yes it is a great point but can’t rely on luck all season. I think we will be fine as that never say die attitude will certainly help. We will sorely miss Luque as a point of difference though who can win a game out of nowhere.

They hit the woodwork twice, we hit it once. Yes they were better than us for a long spell either side of halftime but we started better and could (and probably should) have been 2 up before they got going. Also after Alabi came on we got back into the game and could have nicked it. Considering how many first choice players were missing we did pretty well and I don't think the gap was quite as big as some people think it was.

I thought they were miles better for a period of about an hour. And yes when they were going for a winner and we were pumping long balls to Alabi we could have snatched it. As I sad we battled and never gave up but there were levels today

Having said that as I stated in earlier post we will be fine.

Love the BBC's 4-4-2 for us. Dom and Vincent make a great central defensive partnership and Folwer on the right wing is a demon!

As I sad we battled and never gave up but there were levels today That's certainly how it sounded on SL. But battling out hard-earned (possibly not deserved) points is all part of a good team. We had to do it a few times last season - and without those points, wouldn't have been Champions. I think the ending to last season has distorted some people's memory a bit. Although we ended as a Championship side, filled with talent and playing attractive football, this certainly wasn't the case all season (especially the first couple of months!). We ultimately won the division, not just by the brilliant run we went on in the second half, but also by the do-or-die defending of some games, one or two 'lucky' goals/decisions, and the general hard graft the players put in all season. In other words, not just the 4-0 thrashings, but the games like today, where sheer bollocks earned what might turn out to be a crucial point. Hak's teams work hard and don't give up.
