And of course it is now the first of June, so new contracts needed or others will be sniffing round, big time. However, Hak did not build a championship winning side by leaving things to chance!

Hak said they had an option on Jack for another year which they have taken up so he's at Stones next Season.
He was the only one that supporters specifically asked about.
When I chatted to both Hak amd Terry they said there's so many names they get sent from agents etc they are very busy at this times but the reality is you don't get much done and dusted this early. Its just the nature of the business. Most other clubs are not announcing much either yet. Thee will no doubt be trialists again at pre season as well so doubt the squad will be settled and done for the most part much before pre season.
No doubt Hak and Terry are proper on this and also Terry Casey stated last night that he believes we are assembling a squad to challenge for a top ten spot. Ambitious yes but you get the feeling from Hak amd the owners they are on the same page.
They are not mugs and feel they are ready for the challenges ahead

Apparently Hak says he is sitting down for a chat with Jerome over the next couple of days. It does seem that future of the rest of last season's squad is by no means certain. All to play for.

Sensible words from Hak. While acknowledging the spending power in the NL, he also talks about his work ethic (of course) and holding on to the togetherness of this season's squad. Another abiding memory of our previous stay there was how many ex FL journeymen there were - happy to go from club to club, following the money sparkling occasionally, but never consistently. We had a few ourselves too, plus plenty that the Clown signed who were pretty hopeless. Feel sure Hak will be trying to filter these out and it could prove to be a key factor next season, because for all their money and potential talent pool, nobody really dominated in the NL and Hak's work ethic will surprise more than a few.

Well said Numbers ! Just a thing, I read Gavin Hoyte's name name on the retained list as though he had always been there. But pretty sure he wasn't there when the early contracts were sorted two or three months ago. Sort of slipped under the radar. Anyhow, another very positive re-signing. Welcome back again Gavin.

My two boys are hoping that our gentle giant with those twinkle toes who happens to play at left back, signs up again. What a character, what a player. Please Hak get it done.

Reading into Hak's comments, I wonder how many of our players had an option attached the the existing deal?
I remember our first season in the NLS it was said that a few players had options, but we did not exercise many of them. Perhaps we have triggered these extensions and are in the midst of agreeing a pay rise. That would explain the confidence in Barham being here, but perhaps not explicitly stating a contract has been signed.

To be clear I am not certain, but everything said by the parties involved leads me to believe it will be sorted by next week. Perhaps an interruption from the bank holiday.

Either way, if we can stop calling him the gentle giant with twinkle toes, that would be appreciated.

Either way, if we can stop calling him the gentle giant with twinkle toes, that would be appreciated. Always disliked the phrase "good feet for a big man". Implication is that big men aren't naturally skillful.

Well tbf, JB does have special skills for such a big man. Comes over as a proper gentle giant.

Tom Hadler, Michael Phillips, Rory Deacon and JBW are the remaining 'big' signings from last season's squad. 3 out of 4 re-signing wouldn't be a bad return for Hak.
