Greens won in Whitstable Gorrell with 44% of the vote Single issue parties often do well in bye elections. You only have to look at Brighton to see what this country would be if they ever gained a majority.

I don't think we are single issue compared to your beloved Tories. They're left still fighting brexit nearly two years on.
Anyway I bow to your accuracy. The country is going great under your Tories.

Not my Tories. I voted libdem the last two elections, and I won't even consider voting Tory while Boris is in charge, but neither will I ever vote for any radical lefties.

You mean the Libs that were single issue as anti brexit

Not quite as left as Starmer's Labour.

So Dave will continue to use the evocative language of the Tories to divide the sensible parties. Meanwhile, a party that has utterly failed to control the borders is continuing to blame the EU for its own failure to CONTROL OUR BORDERS as promised and propose to arrest people for wearing t-shirts and fly flags (of Hamas) while selling bombs to Saudi Arabia, will remain in power

What evocative Tory language have I used.

Nothing evoking the Tories there. It's entirely my own opinion having spent my teenage years under the awful Callahan government. I grew up distrusting Labour and no Labour government since has given me any reason to change my mind. With all but the big two unelectable the Tories were the lesser of two evils, until Boris. He's managed to do what no other Tory leader has managed and turned me off them for ever, but even that couldn't persuade me to embrace socialism.

Firstly, I'd be keen to know what was so socialist about Blair's government. Secondly, you seem to forget half of your phrase was the word radical. Put that with the word leftie and it is totally evocative. As for awful governments. Try Thatcher. Sold off the housing stock, let banks loose and it is the base of all woes now.

How about Ted Heath. Three day week, power cuts galore - not the best of times ...

How about Ted Heath. Three day week, power cuts galore - not the best of times ... Reading back about Callaghans government, he inherited high inflation from the oil shocks but this reduced to 8% by the end of the tenure. He did go to the IMF and he did have the winter of discontent. However, Thatcher had tons of disputes and strikes. I'm not sure how one is lefty radicalism and one was a good vote. Let's remember that ten plus years of Thatcher led to higher taxation.

Small matter of the Falklands war too, which actually bought her a second term. By then, really not that popular, but won on a wave on nationalism, even though her government should have seen it coming. Makes you wonder, both about her psychopathic mentality and the (very) short memories of the voting public. Safe bet Boris is hoping for the same, though no armed conflicts please...
