I think mask wearing encourages people to be more careful in lots of ways. At present most people have relaxed to the point of asking 'what pandemic' ? What advice are we getting from the government ? The result of this approach is many more infections, many more people feeling sick, many more hospitalisations and many more deaths. And the band plays on. At least we are a World Leader in something. Thanks Boris.

Should never have relaxed the restriction on mask wearing. I've never stopped wearing mine in shops and other enclosed spaces, but I find myself in a very small minority now, especially in the last couple of weeks.

Find myself wondering at the rationale behind the budget. Champagne and Prosecco are going to be cheaper, but while other more basic stuff isn't being taxed more, the ((welcome) increase in minimum wage will certainly push up prices. One pub chain suggesting it could put 30p on the price of a pint. Meanwhile, a week before the Climate Change summit, taxation on internal flights is being cut. Is that a good idea, never mind not giving a green signal??? Overall then, middle and low income families are going to be hit hardest, while the rich, both individuals and corporations get lots of benefits, including cheaper champers. Hmmm...

Anyone getting a speeding ticket... Don't pay it... Just write to your local Tory MP and request the rules are changed

When the Torygraph, Mail and Times all say Bozo got it wrong, then it must be so - as if we didn't know already. Feature in the Torygraph is titled 'Arrogance and complacency... It's becoming easier to see how the Tories end.' Trouble is, we first need a credible opposition, while too many of the electorate really aren't bothered about what the government get up to, as they are more interested in reality TV.

BBC News - Owen Paterson row shows Boris Johnson can't act with total impunity www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59215614 Fine article from Laura Kuennsberg on the latest Bojo shenanigans. Privately, his own party are calling him a Chesney Hawkes prime minister (I am the one and only), with one commenting 'we are all stuffed until he implodes'. For now, suspect his Teflon coating is still working, especially while opposition remains toothless and the voting public still has its head up its collective arse. There's also a link to who is earning big bucks for a few hours consultancy a year. Apart from one Labour MP and Ed Davey, the rest are Tories. Funny, that...

BBC News - Can No 10 move on from the sleaze row? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59327189Another good piece from Kuennsberg, though suspect that it won't be long before MPs vote themselves a well above inflation pay rise. Not having a second income a good excuse after all. However, do agree with the pruning back of HST. It is all very well having a flagship new rail link, but not if the feeder lines and transport links are still slow. A bit like our 140mph Javelin trains on the North Kent line - fast from Ebbsfleet to St Pancras, but all stations stoppers before that. You have to wonder, especially when it costs more to travel on them.
