No queues here in Shropshire, and no problems filling up. Passed four filling stations today, all had fuel (one had no diesel) and none of them had queues.

Currently don't see much change in the fuel situation either. Went to eight filling stations this morning, including Tesco at Larkfield and Sainsbury's Aylesford. All out of fuel. Stewards at Sainsbury's said they have been getting a tanker at six am every day this week, but this runs out after four hours. Finally filled up at the nineth - the BP station in Snodland, but only after queueing for 40 minutes. Crisis, what crisis? Makes me glad that I am not allowed to drive😁

If I can't refuel I run the risk of not making it back. Even if I make none of our lads can do anything today and tomorrow. I just can't see how that is an improvement to our lives. To make the irony complete, I got my nice black (made abroad) passport back yesterday

BBC News - Fuel supplies: Mortar tanker tailed by drivers looking for petrol www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-58767230This and the report of a woman who queued for half and hour to put £1.60 worth of petrol in her car sum up the mindless stupidity of a section of the British public. Look at the picture of the tanker. It clearly does not carry fuel. Even if it did, why follow it anyway, when it could be going 50 miles or more? No doubt these are the same people who insist on tail gating you, despite the fact you are in a queue of other vehicles doing the same speed, or the ones who joined the queue for Camber Sands earlier in the summer, which started at Rye, instead of thinking there might be an alternative, like Dymchurch that was easier to get to. If you don't need it, why queue for it? Most car journeys are 30 miles or less, so even if you do that every day, a full tank should easily last week or longer. It seems the selfish minority are once again penalising those who really do need their cars as they are front line workers. Doesn't excuse Boris, mind. He remains a complete tosser, with a crew of like minded tossers surrounding him.

I was queueing outside Larkfield Sainsbury's at 6am this morning. With an empty tank & urgent family issues I didn't have any alternative. Several dozen others were already there but the operation is very efficienly run. Tough on anyone who just wants to do food shopping as they will be in the same queue. It was also aggravating for those who wanted to get to work on the Trading Estate. I was told that they have a petrol delivery every day at 4am & that it's sold out by mid-morning.

Hoepfully, the Johnson petrol shortage is easing now. I have a hotel booked in Sheffield next week so am hoping, Yorkshire is OK.

Suspect all will be temporarily swept under the carpet this week for the Tory Party conference. Bojo already trumpeting the latest big ideas and no doubt repeats of 'getting the job done' will go on and nauseum. As a school governor, the 'circle model' is popular. This is where you first review what you completed last year before looking at what didn't, then deciding how to move forward. Seems to me that party politics of all colours could do with being a bit more honest about what didn't work well instead of just telling us the next round of bright ideas that never seem to get completed.

Bright ideas? What have been Alex johnson's bright ideas?

Johnson now claiming that all this is just something we have to adjust too as the new situation beds in (although where the gas and electricity price rises* fit in was not explained). So, now we know - these problems are Brexit related, which they have been denying up until now...
*Got the notification yesterday that our gas and electricity costs (which went up by 9% just 4 months ago) are going up again in November - gas by 38% and electricity by 20%!! That's an overall price increase of 41% (we use a lot more gas than electricity) - 50% since June. And this is from a company that claims that it 'hedged' 90% of its electricty a year in advance. It's going to be a long, cold winter for anyone who's fiancially strapped...

A two and a half hour queue to get through the tunnel today, during which time had the misfortune to listen to Jezza on Radio 2. Is the current crisis the government's fault was the burning question. Yes, said most, apart from a few Tories, who blamed everyone else, conveniently forgetting they've been in power plenty long enough to be responsible for pretty much everything. Lovely quote from an editor on the Mirror about Amber Rudd - she'd be out of her depth in a puddle. Well there are some big puddles/potholes round my way and I blame the government for them too

Ah the blame game. It makes everyone seem much happier sitting in queues if they can blame someone.
It’s no one thing causing this problem but as usual it gets pigeon holed as Brexit’s fault or Boris’ fault. Everyone needs to grow up and vote for Labour or the Lib Dem’s….but they won’t. They’ll be taken in by a few sound bites nearer the election and/or some social media lies about Labour’s sums not adding up or Kier Starmer being a commie.
Brexit was never going to be a smooth transition to the land of milk and honey. Those who voted for it will have to wait for 20 years to see how it pans out.

In 20 years most of those that voted for brexit will not exist. A bit like the futures of the children of those that didn't vote for it

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-58792393Lengthy articles from the Beeb on the so called Pandora Papers, which list properties bought here through off shore companies, thereby enabling their immensely wealthy foreign owners to avoid paying millions in tax. Brits too, some of them Tory Party donors. Seems our government knows about it all, but has been dragging its feet for years over introducing legislation that would prevent such loop holes. I wonder why, says the cynic within me...
