I have a question for NWS but first let's look at the worlds problems. We have Brexit, less than 6 weeks old officially and you say it's an abject failure fuelled by lies, lies and more lies. We have the Coronavirus ,a worldwide pandemic that has brought the world to its knees but instead of praising the NHS and the scientists who have delivered a vaccine in record time you focus on Bojo calling him the worst prime minister ever who tells lies, lies and more lies. I have a friend who lives in Northern Ireland who lives 400 yards from the border and he doesn't care about it and yet you blather on about it day after day after day. There are other things that you go on and on about ,things that you cannot fix, things that you cannot change, you say that if you tell one person then they will also tell one person and all of a sudden , you nws have created a groundswell of people who will change the establishment well let me tell you the truth you tell one person that person walks out of the room and thinks that man is a boring t**t. And so we come to my question and it's a question of the utmost importance so Adrian What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow ? It's not me calling it an abject failure. Its the people who are stuck with the consequences of it. Hence, the links I keep posting. Obviously, the people who voted for something they little understood but jolly well knew it was a good idea don't care, wave their hands and say oh that's boring and repeat the latest parrot phrase they have been given. I have nothing but praise for the NHS and the scientists. My despair comes when the government chooses not to listen to them. Remember the December headline, 'Boris Battles the experts to save Christmas'. I was 'boring' or whatever other derisory phrase you wish to use then because I was complaining. Today, we can be reasonably assured that the Christmas fiasco led to thousands more deaths than need be because he refused to put measures in place until it was too late. I wondered how many lives the refusal to close schools down. I argued with my MP from August onwards about this. Obviously more deaths is preferable to not listening to 'boring' people. Anybody from the NHS has constantly repeated, ad nauseum, to avoid contact where possible, wash your hands regularly etc etc. 'Boris's' actions were in direct contravention to that. My calling him out on it backed the NHS and the scientists (who were also calling him out on it). You see they don't want your Thursday clapping, they want you to keep each other safe. Alex Johnson and his cronies are massively to blame for the number of deaths we have. Failure to shut borders (only just doing it now nearly a year later and couldn't manage to get the IT to work properly with it going down in no time at all on Thursday), PPE contracts to cronies who had no clue, July 4th independence day (remember that thread), Christmas, £20bn on failed test and trace. It goes on and on. My answer to your question...just look on Facebook. It doesn't matter if the answer is correct just repeat it anyway.

What Is the Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Swallow? is a quote from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The question is often referred to online as a way of calling a topic or question overly trivial or technical. Which seems to fit the bill.... Airsprred velocity is not only daft, it is tautology. Plus velocity implies direction as well as speed, so we would need to know where the swallow were coming from and going to. Never mind what exactly a 'laden swallow' would be carrying...

NWS we are only a few weeks into our freedom from EU control. The world is our oyster (even if we cannot sell them to the EU) The reason why the EU are so worried about us being a Singapore on their doorstep is that it WON'T be Singapore on Thames. It's going to be MUCH bigger than that. The whole of the UK will become like Singapore once our Freeports are up and running and we've joined the CPTPP and AfCFTA, and have negotiated FTAs with Canada, the States and India amongst others.
I'm REALLY hoping that Sunak is going to drastically drop Corporation Tax in a couple of months. Firstly because so many businesses need it at this moment in time and secondly because it's going to create a ridiculous amount of overseas investment.
We can cut it to as low as 9% without falling foul of the level playing field agreement because Bulgaria have theirs at 9% and Ireland have theirs set to 12.5%.
We might even see some of those Blue Chip companies moving from Ireland to the UK if we play our cards right, particularly if we get those trade deals I've mentioned above. Sure, the EU could decide to negotiate trade deals with those countries (they already have one with Canada), but how long is that going to take them? 6 years? 7? 10?!!? 😲
A drastic increase in trade is one of the main reasons why so many of us voted to Leave, and Liz Truss is doing an incredible job so far.
This isn't all going to happen overnight but we'll see the UK being the equivalent to Singapore some time during the next few years, and it'll be worth the wait.

Why is that addressed to me? nwhb is your man for Brexit. I happen to agree with him (I think - I don't actually read most of his posts), and think that it will turn out to be a bigger disaster than Covid, but I don't want to fall out with my fellow Stones supporters on here over it. Now, let's get back to swallows! How many actually make a summer?

This is supposed to be a football forum. Moderator please transfer this thread to the Non Maidstone FC forum. At the risk of offending NWS I am going to use the F word and invite you bird fanciers to Ffffly away.
