I find it very odd that Scally didn't immediately opt to put his players in furlough - surely in April he will. All football clubs pretty much automatically qualify, as contracted full-time players are eligible and clearly they cannot do any 'work' at the moment. We will surely do it at Maidstone as well. I put two members of staff on furlough this week as our sales have tanked - it's the only sensible option for small businesses to get through this nightmare.

Excellent, probably the best PP we've had this season (or in whatever the gap between 2018/19 and 2020/21 will come to be called).
I've just been reading through the latest words of wisdom from the experts, and the consensus seems to be that, although the lock-down will work and infections/deaths will cease, as soon as it's relaxed, the virus will be back. And we'll either have to have a series of lock-downs, or we'll have to take the full brunt of the epidemic now. And, bearing in mind the financial nightmare of the lockdown, I can't see the goverment opting for another one.
But, either way, even if we have a reasonably virus-free summer, it will be back with avengence before the new season gets under way. So, its not just this season that's fucked, it looks very like the next one will be too. The war will not be over by Christmas.

"Give them a grievance which, for some of their fans, would be better than the trophy itself." I hope this isn't a Hillsborough reference (especially as the Liverpool fans' grievance was eventually vindicated).

I see your point, however, I took it that he was talking in general terms, and I would add to that any Runcorn supporter. Which of these are generally moaning f-----s? Ainsley Harriott; Kriss Akabusi; Chris Kamara; The laughing cavalier; Scousers.

Don't shoot the messenger. I am indeed an optimist - as someone in their late 60s, I have to be. I'm assuming that we'll get through this, the country will recover fairly quickly, and there will be done sort of season next year, and the Stones will do well in it. I'm also hoping I'll be there to see it - and everyone on here. But none of that alters the facts of this pandemic.

We ran a comprehensive demolition of Hillsborough denialists a few years back, in particular calling out the indefensible number of people from Maidstone who still buy the Sun. Futile of course and I've no doubt that when this over that a vast percentage of our fans will completely ignore Tim Martin's behaviour during this pandemic and carry on drinking at his pubs as if nothing had happened.

I know the reasoning behind it but that doesn't make you feel any better about it. Going online tonight to see if anyone's looking for volunteers, as I gather the NHS are almost as overwhelmed with volunteers as they are likely to be with COVID-19
