He was making quite a few fcuk ups in the last 12-18 months of his Maidstone career though So did De Havilland and he is also playing first team NL football at Dover. Lets face it, the Stones set up in our final season in NL was toxic and affected all the players thanks to the Clown, and not really changed by JS2 and Hak who just wanted the season over to do a clearout. Time to move forward, those days (Thankfully) are behind us now and I think we all agree that a year on we are in a better place, if not quite as exciting or good as we'd hoped it may be, and still kindof sortof on course maybe perhaps for playoffs and not the end of the world to another year in NLS, even if some of us worry about Hak leading on his own without JS2.

Lee did make a few errors in his latter days but if we had a problem in that area I would welcome him back with open arms because he is/was a legend. I have the funny feeling though that if he leaves Dover he will end up at Margate.

Then Worgs could come back to the Gallagher with Jay as No1 and Worgs as No2 when JS2 retires and Hak goes to the Ricay. (Takes deep breath and waits for incoming).

A JS1 + JS2 combo would be worth trying...

A JS1 + JS2 combo would be worth trying... Should have done that in the first place, with hindsight, which is always a wonderful thing, of course.

He was making quite a few fcuk ups in the last 12-18 months of his Maidstone career though Exactly. You always felt he had one mistake in him each game and some of them were very costly. How many howlers has Lewington made so far? With our budget we're not going to get him back, it would have to be in a goalkeeper coach role, which is Lewington's job already. Could end up at Margate or even somewhere like Hythe, where the Brave Brit has put together a team brimming with former Stones players. It's not difficult to imagine Worgs playing for a Ryman or NLS team and making the rest of his living from coaching elsewhere. He has vast experience in that area, having done a lot of coaching at Gillingham when he was semi-pro for us. I don't think he's the sort of guy who will ever be short of offers.

I reckon if he leaves Dover he will maybe end up with Watty an the rest of the stones old boys down at Hythe, little less demanding than our current level.

Unlike Watty's lot, Worgs is full time and his career is Football, as opposed to having another career and playing football on the side so we may - and should - still be an option for him, but I may be just hankering after the past. I love George E and am getting more and more used to the all-new Stones squad under JS2 but I still feel too much of Jays era and those personalities and legends got lost too quickly and that's probably why we still look to people like Worgs and miss them so much. Time to try to warm to a new dynasty, but it does take time.

Don't disagree, Jakeyboi, but Worgs certainly must pass ANYONES criteria as being a Stones Legend - like Millsy - just on longevity, leagues played in etc.

Yes but as per my previous post, apart from the couple of years he had as a full-time professional keeper with us, he has had more than one job, the others being as a coach. At Dover he was was initially employed as goalkeeping coach, a role he had at Gillingham in his days playing for Tonbridge and ourselves. My point was that he would surely have the option to return to that set up if he played for a part-time team. Anyhow it's all hypothetical, the bloke hasn't even left Dover yet! I am sure he is very capable of sorting his own career out.

Lee was/is a top quality shot stopper absolutely first class. No command of the six yard box though flapped at crosses but was horribly exposed by a poor defence in the National League

It's one of the hardest parts of the game for a keeper and anyone who can do it well certainly ain't gonna be playing at NL level or lower.

Almost true Seems a while back now but who was that Keeper we got on loan from Hartlepool, only stayed a few weeks and then got re-called ? But he was the best that I can recall in the 6 yard box and probably the best all round keeper I've seen at the Gallagher
