Especially with a vesta curry Vesta curry. Was that the boil in a bag No it was a dehydrated concoction that contained sultanas & dried apple and plastic meat very much a British curry taste of the 1970s Once considered very sophisticated. If my memory serves me correct it had a rather sweet taste and was a lot of fluffing around for a 'Convenience meal. It is just as fast to make a curry from fresh ingredients.'

Vesta curry was the pot noodle of the 1970s and I lived on them at uni. Probably explains a lot! Not as healthy as a nice spam fritter with hoops and crinkly chips. Chips not crisps. Or fries.

This was a relatively recent abomination, but does anybody remember Ketchips? Chips, crinkle cut but lengthwise, with ketchup in the middle. Not a culinary highlight of my life...

You're not missing that much. Chips (probably made from instant mash powder), with a strip of dried ketchup through the middle. Even the memory's giving me indigestion.

If any of the political parties get re-elected at the general election we are dooomed. A Birdsye potato Waffle would do much better job (although may get totally frazzled with all the hot air in the commons.

Kernow loved the EU because they gave them lots of money but they want independence from the UK. Scotland also love the EU but they want independence from the UK. They are both crazy because who the heck in the EU would ever buy Cornish Pasties or deep fried Mars bars other than the rest of the UK? We need to be a United Kingdom of the kind of great food this thread is proud of, from the great British Sunday Roast to Vesta Curries and Smash and Spam Fritters and Fish and Chips. Gutbuckets and Cholestorol addicts of Great Britain unite! Sing...……………. if you glad to be stout! Milk Stout - another great British tradition. Makes you glad to be alive.
