It gets worse! My mum and dad relocated here from the east and of London im the 70's,to the garden of England, it is becoming more of "the concrete back yard of the overspill"

We seem to have forgotten the rush to build flats after WWII, most of which had to be demolished within a generation. If London needs to house its ever expanding population, there is still plenty of land within the M25 on which they can build affordable houses for families.

I've often thought it would make more sense to have the war memorial in Brenchley Gardens (although there is actually one there already!). It would save all the road closures, etc that the current service requires.
What worries me more is why they want to move it - basically to expand a road that already takes at least 10 minutes to cross, and then build a 15 storey monstrosity by the river (right next to the world's ugliest hotel!). Any other town or city would regard their river as an asset; we just build an urban motorway down one bank and spoil the other with completely inappropriate development.

I think it’s a small price to pay to have road closures once a year, if it wasn’t for those brave souls going away and fighting and ultimately dying for their country we wouldn’t have the freedom we have today, i for one think it’s a bloody disgrace, moving it to Brenchley Gardens so all the local drug addicts and piss heads can desecrate really makes my blood boil

I can't actually say the words "Brenchley Gardens" without chuckling! Years ago my mate thought he had pulled a couple of gothic girls in quigleys and said "so, tell me, do you want to go in Brenchley Gardens ladies?!" when they asked why, he said "erm, erm, it's a nice night for a stroll!"

When they turned his most gracious offer of a "stroll through Brenchley gardens" down, he said "f##k you then! I'm getting a big mac meal, as food is better than sex anyway!"
