We all know the stories and facts concerning ex league clubs in and around the national leagues but what about the big non league names of the past.
In the northern premier you have North Ferriby Utd who are likely to be officially relegated this week for the third year on the bounce. Just outside the drop zone are ex conference stalwarts Stafford Rangers ,hands up anyone who remembers having to fight your way out of that ground after scoring a 92nd minute winner.
The NLP EAST sees another old conference club Frickley athletic and in the WEST are one of the Runcorn clubs and Colwyn Bay who are reportedly leaving the pyramid altogether and rejoining the Welsh set up
In the Bostik prem you have Margate,Hornchurch and Whitehawk all struggling to capture former glories. In the next step down is once conference club and double FA Trophy winners Grays Athletic who are struggling to escape step 4.
In the Southern Central two once huge names Kettering Town and Rushden and Diamonds could both return to the NL set-up whilst In the South both Weymouth and Salisbury are looking good to do the same whilst poor old Staines town have already been relegated to step 4 add to this they could be homeless next season and could well be sharing with ex isthmian stalwarts Egham town who themselves will be relegated to step 5.
Aylesbury are now entrenched at level 4 and Fleet Town ,do you remember us playing those arsehole? Well they look good to go down to level 5
Which brings us to step 5 where Walton and Hershams fall from grace looks set to continue as they lay bottom of the combined counties prem. In the Essex league one Isth prem outfit Redbridge find themseves 5th from bottom well below the ex laughing stock of the Kent leg Sporting Bengal fc. In the north west counties is one of the saddest tales of all Northwich Victoria who had a magnificent 12000 capacity stadium built for them only for the owners to pull it down again 2 years later. The Vivs are in the FA Vase semis so could end up having something to cheer. Once southern league prem Bashley are now struggling in the Wessex league and Histon, remember them, are now down in the Eastern Counties but look good to win it.
In step 6 there are the likes of Epsom & Ewell,Durham City,Godalming and Erith and Belvedere all playing 3 levels below their once great heights.
So as you can see if the Stones start to plummet we are in good company but hopefully we will level out at step 2.
