I often have to be up super early after midweek games. A 15 minute delay wouldn't stop me going, but would be a minor embuggeration.

2089 at home to see you know who lose another game. Do their fans react to defeat like ours?

Just discussing the form and likely number of fans of our opponents tomorrow. As you do, you know, the day before you play someone. Although I recall someone saying their higher attendances were a blip. Maybe we could learn something.

OK, finally well/un-busy enough to do some stats...
We've been well and truly knocked off the top of the attendance table this season by DH. So, I set out to 'prove' that this was either FAKE NEWS, or some sort of statistical anomaly produced by Hamlet letting people in for free!
Unfortunately, none of the above, there appears to have been a perfectly genuine increase in gates at CH - an average of over 500 more fans at each game.
I still suspect some shenanigans, because their season opened perfectly normally, with the first three home games averaging just 1,469 - a decent enough gate, but well below the average gate for the Mighty Stones.
Then they got more than 2,000 in for their 4th home game (Slough). Next was us, on a Tuesday, so 1,684 wasn't a bad gate. But then they took off…
The following Saturday (Hungerford), they were over 2,000 again, and three games later (Billericay), they hit 3,132. The numbers dropped a bit after that, but still averaged 2,395.
Their current overall average is 2,190, but since our visit (7 games), they have averaged 2,587.

By the by - we are down to 15th nationally, on 1,917 - with three non-league (not ex-ELF) sides above us: DH, Woking and Bloody Bromley.
There's a decent gap both above and below us, so this is unlikely to alter unless gates really pick up (an average of over 100 extra punters a match for the rest of the season).

Families and students were back after the summer innit. Student and children season tickets are basically free.

Why are you so obsessed with DH attendances. It's not a competition to see who gets the biggest crowds. As long as we're above them in the table I don't care if they're getting 100000 every game.

Ebbsfleet is interesting. They've always been around the 1000 mark, depending on league and position. If they go down, all those millions (tens of millions?) will have been for nothing but a very disappointing main stand. Suppose it won't matter if the theme park finally goes ahead. But if not...

Dulwich are a misleading comparison, only because the demographics and population figures are so different to Maidstone. But if they're doing something right, we should be finding out what it is, and copying them. I would have no problem with free admission for kids and students, if it wins over lifelong loyalties.
Population of Maidstone is between 113,000 and 160,000, presumably depending how much of outlying areas are counted. A better comparison for us might be York (average 2,700) or Cambridge (average 4,100).
