Dusk 2 Dawn.
Starburger.
Park Gate Inn.
I've only ever been in the first and it doesn't surprise me.

I've had a drink or two in the park gate over the years, but never eaten in there. There was a wake held there after a funeral i attended a few years ago, but I don't go to most wakes, including this one, so i am glad that I didn't now, if the food preparation hygiene is no good.
As for starburger, not eaten in there for about years and that was a once off, ate in there quite a bit back in 2003/04 when i was going to London most Saturdays and a 5 piece breakfast with a cup of tea was £2.85 special offer

Interesting that none of these is Indian or Chinese - another stereotype bites the dust...

Had lunch in the Poppy Fields the other day which has a rating of five and so the food was prepared in a clean and healthy kitchen now all we have to do is train the chef to cook it properly ,instead of serving the utter crap that we were served. After a half hour rant, surprisingly not me,we were given our money back. I for one will only ever go back there for the beer which was actually very nice.

I'm very partial to quite a few of their ales.

All the chain type places will be understaffed and overworked kids on minimum wage. The Thomas Wyatt round the corner has had similar issues. You get what you pay for.

Taling of chains - we had a surprisingly good meal in Bill's in Greenwhich a few weeks ago - intersting menu, well cooked and presented food, plenty of veggie options, nice staff and atmosphere, and a decent price. I wouldn't normally eat in a place like that, but it was shit weather and we were tired, so we just went into the first place we came to. The result was a very pleasant interlude in a day out that was getting very stressful by then, and we left in a very different frame of mind than we entered. It turned a typical trip up to London with the kids (what can possibly go wrong?) into a very pleasant day out.
I've never eaten in a Bill's before or since, so I've no idea if our experience is typical - it coud have just been that it was Greenwhich (our waiter had a very hipster beard!), or we were just lucky with the staff. I've studied the Maidstone Bill's with interest since, but never been inside or eaten there.
