I know Steve you are just asking the question and i am just answering it. The price were held this year and season tickets dropped ,should we go down I expect it to remain at present levels but should we stay up I fully expect a rise next season of probably £2 per game. Now you mention it, didn't everyone whinge last season, so season ticket prices were dropped to please the moaners. Now attendances are down, less money for players and we are more reliant than ever on loan deals. Oliver, if you're reading this, ignore the forum experts, raise prices, sign a couple of decent players, watch attendances and income rise, use spare money to prepare for the Football League. I should run a football club. My recollection was that season tickets for the 16-17 season were generally not seen as value for money, especially when compared with many other clubs, and 'people' were suggesting they were not renewing. Club took a business decision to try and preserve that cash injection in the summer by increasing the number of 'free games' in comparison to paying on the gate.
Words like "whinge" and "moaners" makes it seem more dramatic and that's certainly one view.

The price on the gate doesn't just have to reflect "the going rate" at other clubs. They will mostly have different business models and therefore may be more dependent upon the money through the turnstiles, rather than a pitch that technically could be in use 24/7. Say £20 is ok at this level - add a fiver increment per promotion (not allowing for inflation or wage rises) and in the Championship you'd be parting with £35 a game which is a figure that away fans refuse to pay at Leeds (despite the amazing football on view there for once!).
If the club was to go in that direction there is very little room for failure as poor performances will not generate repeat business from the less fanatical supporters.
Edit to add, the West Ham strategy of selling season tickets on credit is also done at Leeds. It's an interest free loan (I think it has an admin charge of a tenner or something which is where the money is made by the club and the loan company) paid back in five instalments, so it's all paid for long before Christmas. Obviously it's on a much smaller scale at the Gallagher, but if it brings in supporters who that option will help, it cannot be a bad thing to consider.

Please be patient and the football league will come eventually when we are READY for it and that time is not now. Colne Dynamos

Colne Dynamos I thought Colne Dynamos failed because the chairman fell out with the then Conference and subsequently the local council about plans to ground share with their nearest neighbours and then build a new ground. Sounds familiar........
