It was fairly backs to the wall stuff. Good save by Worner who was at fault for the penalty and looks horribly vulnerable but in fairness our defense was superb today. Keeper looks horribly vulnerable? What a load of rubbish. The best keeper we have seen between the posts in years. Vulnerable ! Not sure I'm watching same keeper

Worner went high and punched away. Landed awkwardly on their player who went down like a big girls blouse. Ref couldn’t wait to give them a pen. Great save. Justice done. Now let’s kick Dovers arse. COYS

Keeper looks horribly vulnerable? What a load of rubbish. The best keeper we have seen between the posts in years. Excuse me? I'm sorry but he's far too short. It's like watching a less confident version of Worgan. Good shot stopper but he has no command over his box. Every time anyone puts a cross near him he either plants himself on his line or fails to clear. Massive step down from Smith.

COYS His third flap of the game and he misjudged it so badly he punched their striker. Shocking stuff but a brilliant save made up for it. Jury very much out for me.

For me, this was a decent performance. Our recent run puts us under lots of pressure. Despite this we went to Boreham Wood, which is not the easiest place to go, executed a game plan and took the three points. Anyone there today would probably agree that a point apiece would have been a fair result but, for once, we executed our chance (beautifully I may add) while they were wayward and profligate in front of goal. All players played well and with desire. I thought we were great down the all-important spine of the team with Worner saving well, De Havilland turning in a real gutsy captain's performance, Muldoon popping up all over the place and really getting involved and Cassidy leading the line tirelessly. We played football and showed that we do have the players to get results. More of what we saw today, please.
PS Gutted we will lose Cassidy

Well ladies and gentlemen what a game to behold, it had everything a Maidstone goal, a Maidstone sending off and a penalty awarded against Maidstone all in the fantastic and beautiful surroundings of Borehamwood, right onto game, a great early goal by Cassidy which was supplied by McLennan, then the team showed some real fight and desire against a very robust BW side, the sending off I have no idea want went on, it looked like a normal challenge and then something happened I heard that Wishart May have stamped on the BW player which would made some sense as 3 of their players ran over and physically manhandled him up of the ground, the referee already had his red card ready as he ran across the pitch and we thought it was a BW player who was going off, the penalty we couldn’t really see as it was at the other end of the ground, so to recap all in all a very workmanlike performance, my only gripe is that we kept getting deeper and deeper in the 2nd half much to the chagrin of messrs Lewis and Walton on the touchline, onwards to Dover on Tuesday and hopefully we can right a few wrongs from Boxing Day, MOM Cassidy who worked his socks off You forgot the bit about peeing in the dark!

Well, one swallow, etc. But what a day!! Four aways this season for me - 3 wins and one draw!
It wasn't as backs to the wall as people assume - we rarely seriously looked like conceding and we played some very nice football at times. Wood are big and fast and not bad footballers, but on the ball we looked better. And we played as a team - every player gave everything they had. And a penalty save on top. Brilliant!
Easy trip both ways with Tim's Travel Service, nice, friendly club (sorry BW haters, but I liked the place), neat and tidy old-school ground, excellent pitch, free seats - with plenty of leg room, decent pub meal - even nice chips in the ground. Only downsides were no programmes (were there any, or did I just miss them?) and no lights in the loos!!
When you win away against a 'better' side, there aren't really any negatives, but it's still a bit worrying that we never really looked like scoring a second - and that our current in-form scorer is about to leave. Edobor looked the business when he came on, so maybe he'll fill in for Cassidy, but, without Turgott, I fear we are still going to struggle to score. Although I can live with 20 1-0 wins!
Really looking forward to New Year's Day now - revenge on Dover, a good crowd at JWW, plenty of noise! A win, and other results going our way - Chesterfield losing at Solihull, and Maidenhead losing or drawing at Aldershot - and we're out of relegation!
Such a different feeling after the last few weeks.

Such a different feeling after the last few weeks. We definitely deserved the win as the work rate was incredible but because we won it is easy to forget the chances BW did have. There were at least 2 or 3 clear headers that missed the target that they really should have done better with.

Looking at the highlights, very much doubt you would win an appeal against the red card - the guy hasn't stamped down hard, but he's definitely put his biit in when he didn't need to. Very silly.

There were at least 2 or 3 clear headers that missed the target that they really should have done better with. Now I've calmed down a bit, and slept on it, although I'm still buzzing from that game, I can't quite shut out the little voice in my head that whispers "remember Barnet...". Barnet was pretty much the same, an unexpected, but fully deserved, win against a good side, and a brilliant day out. But it led to nothing - an unlucky home draw against Wrexham looked like the recovery continuing, but just a week later we fell apart at H&W, and never rediscovered our form. At the time of the Barnet win, their fans were adamant that they had put in a well under-par performance, but I dismissed that as what 'big team' fans always say when they are beaten. But, looking back, after our collapse, I started to wonder if they had been right. BW feels different to that, because they gave us a very hard game, and, had they not failed to convert one or two of their chances, we still be looking at an excellent game from Stones, but not three points. But we need to see this recovery continue - and strengthen. And, for once, luck could be on our side - Dover and Maidenhead are entirely winnable, but so too are D&R and Hartlepool, if we play like we did yesterday. We need to seize this chance - players and fans - to pull away from relegation and start playing the football we know we can play. Mind you, we also need to find someone who can score goals!

Hopefully the Stones will continue to play with freedom, positivity, and on the front foot, rather then bring continued pressure on the defence by retreating en masse, and hoofing the ball to nobody in the opponents half. That only leads to conceding goals, as we have seen.

Such a different feeling after the last few weeks. There were programmes, one of boreham's academy players had a box of about 20/30 when i got in, poor lad was given nothing to rest the box on which made getting change a bit of a pain. As for the game, i noticed no one has mentioned the POS who plays for boreham who probably should have seen red after he kicked Wishart two feet in the air with a late challenge in the first half, but same old Stephens first class cock gets away with everything. (Stephens is one of only three negatives with boreham, the owner being a tit at times is number 2 and £20 to get in number 3). Boreham are a good team and garrard is a good young manager murtagh, champion and Thomas all very good players parry and ugwu along with huddart give a very solid base as well and they play good football. Losing smith, Ferrier, andrade and balanta was always going to be hard on them but they are still a tough team to beat. Thought our back four of wdh, wassmer, Phillips and mclennon were immense under all the pressure and Jarvis looked great as a holding midfielder when he came on at half time. The players had pride and character a couple still showing the scars of low confidence but i think the fans reaction at the end of the game will help with that and the rest of the players certainly seemed a lot more confident. Personally think tristan and Simon should get the gig as i believe we have the players and think that these two can get the best out of them and move us up the table to safety.

On what was a brilliant day out I would just like to thank the staff and the locals of the spoons pub who made us very welcome. I spoke to several locals all of which used to support the club in years gone by but the owner David Hunter has pissed most of them off and the admission prices have doubled in 5 years. 3 of the gents now watch the local rugby club which is only £3 admission and cheap beer from the clubhouse which you can watch the game with.

I'm sorry, Sword, that is an unacceptable comment. It should be "...with which you can watch the game"!
As for watching rugby instead of football....
