A friend of mine who is very close to a member of the Braintree board has told me this morning that we have made an approach for their manager Hakan Heyrettin. I don’t normally take a view on these matters and take a watching brief, but to take from the one team lower than us seems crazy to me! Seems to me that Heyrettin would be crazy to accept, even if he has received the offer. Braintree are on fire at the moment, having filleted Barnet 4 - 0 on Saturday with a display of vibrant & incisive attacking football. Why swap that for our crock of crap ?

From some of the things I've read on various social media, it was more a case of Barnet being extremely poor rather than Braintree being anything other than their usual selves, not forgetting also that Barnet were down to 10 men after 3 minutes.

I said that to my friend, he said don’t be fooled they had thier keeper sent off after 3 minutes!
By all accounts he worked with John Still before so I’m assuming we can put this one down to a Bill Williams decision but goodness knows!
Wonder if SW and TL will still take tonight’s game?
Will be interesting to see who is in crowd!

Still, it's quite impressive to see a team score four goals against 10 men. I haven't experienced that for a long time.

Basically just paraphrasing KentOnline from this morning.

Whoever we appoint needs to have a proven record of building and rescuing a poorly performing team. I imagine only a small handful of the current squad we would see again so the task in NLS will still be getting basically an entire new team gelling.
Hopefully the owners have learnt a valuable lesson, but I still think more investment from outside is needed if we are to come back up and actually be established in this league rather than clinging on.

The May sale of Turgott will finance next season's Nat South squad.

Strong rumour this afternoon from a very reliable source of mine that the new management team is John Still with Heyrettin as his assistant and Simon Walton as coach.
