No loss at all imo, as you say Durojaiye was Harry's weakest signing to date. Which brings us to what Harry has done well - player recruitment, at least the players look good on paper. Pity they don't look so good on 3G or grass at the moment ! We are in mid December and Jay Saunders is not to blame for how the team is playing right now. But I disagree with pieman wishing to see the back of our manager. This is Harry's newly assembled team and not somebody else's. If he cannot get his handpicked players to play well individually and as a team, then nobody else is any more likely. The click is ticking, the natives are getting ugly, but there is still time and space for Harry Wheeler to turn this around. Durojaiye was on a Non-Contract so no Financial loss there

We are at a point now where survival is all we are striving for.
If we survive, will that be enough to give Wheeler another season, even if it’s with absolutely poor football?
Will the fans ever warm to him?
I know he and his team talk in an ultra competitive and professional manner but this latest report was a poor one.
I am still fairly confident we will survive.
Seems the owners are now fair game for criticism but they are allowed to make mistakes as well. It was their first managerial appointment in proper football remember.

As I said on here some time ago (pre Jay leaving, I think), the owners had it very easy for the first 4 years, basically only having to look after the business and infrastructure, they just let Jay get on with the football. They were very lucky in appointing him, as they had no real football decisions to take from then on. But this was also a disadvantage - they also had none of the usual football owners' experience to learn from. So now comes our first big crisis, and it's no surprise they make mistakes. The honeymoon is over.

A script for Harry, if he wants to undo the damage
“I’ve thought about what I said in that interview and I’m going to cop it sweet, I f**ked up. I’ve been the worst type of armchair critic to Jay Saunders and the former players. I don’t know why Jay recruited certain players, what potential he saw in them, how they were meant to fit in with the team he dreamt of creating. I don’t know what budget constraints or other pressures he was under. And I hate it when people criticise me without understanding the limitations I have on me when I go out to recruit. Yet I did it to Jay without knowing the man or acknowledging how much he’d given to the club.
I know I can be brash, insensitive, a bit self-centred but I am determined to do well for this club. I’m not going to be able to change myself but I want the fans to know that, like everyone, I want to be the best I can be and I know I’m not perfect.
So, sorry to Jay and all those players I slagged off. My track record is pretty non-existent but I’m only at the start. From here on in I’m going to focus on the team not me. I’m responsible for where are now. No-one else. Me.”

Ash spent less time crying over brexit and tweeting about Donald Trump and more time on unlocking the potential of the club with better decisions we might not be in this mess. Hes still tweeting about how 3G should be allowed in the football league. I think he's forgotten that we're actually second bottom and likely to be playing in the National South next season. The EFL ain't changing their mind about 3G anytime soon/ever, so I don't know why Oliver is still trying to fight that battle. I almost hope Sutton or Harrogate win promotion and rip the pitch up like they have said they will, just so we can put an end to this. Wouldn’t surprise me they are still thinking about the riverside stand development!

Good points made about the owners first proper serious footballing decision to hire HW, never thought of that before. But do they have the guts to admit to making a mistake and try to restore the Stones to some kind of order amidst this ever increasing chaos?

Surely an even bigger mistake was to allow JS to sign superstar forwards such as Mullings & Quigs without also thinking of howthese guys would be fed crosses to score from. Move on, COYMFS, lets get behind what we have.

With all the complaints about Harry, let's not forget the squad was seriously undercooked for the new season. The club's summer recruitment of players was shocking. Look, I am as unhappy as anybody about performances and the quality of football we are having to suffer. Also, seriously unimpressed by Harry's attempt to blame everybody but himself. But this is not the time to scream OUT ! The squad HW has put together are his personal choices, nobody else's. They must be allowed some more time to gell. A couple of wins by New Years Day will help a lot. The alternative doesn't look great either.

He doesn't seem the type to give them time to gell.

Unbelievable some of the attacks on the owners.
If they are still looking at 3g or the riverside development that is positive because it shows them thinking about long term planning etc which is what they as owners should be doing
Yes they are human and can make mistakes but everything they have done or tried to do has been in an attempt to do what's best for the club.
Their job is to see the club survive long term not until Friday afternoon.
As for Harry he is making his bed and he will have to lie in it. Results are everything and if accurate his latest comments in the media show a lack of class.
He does however now need to deliver and should be given a few more weeks end of Jan before anyone expects miracles. Sadly like most I don't expect a miracle to manifest but jumping now into more instability offers no escape from our current predicament.
As others have said this is turning toxic and that needs to be halted.

Agree with you 100% Rob. Any 'attacks' on our owners who have been great for the club is just totally crackers. Whatever the future for HW, we have much to be grateful for thanks to Terry and Oliver.

This latest interview by Wheeler proves the measure of the man. He is disrespectful to the owners the fans and everybody associated with our great club. Ok it was a mistake to hire this person who clearly has no ability as a manager but we all make mistakes in life but it’s what you do to put things right that matters. Get rid of Wheeler now and let’s find a proper manager as Dover have done. We all love our team but Wheeler is not worthy of being in our football family
