I'm not saying one is worse than the other, or anything of the kind, but it is safe to say there are some people who think they can say whatever they want at a football stadium and get away with it. I definitely don't blame Goalie's for reacting. Just as people use the 'net to launch horrendous abuse at players, supporters etc. , safe behind an alias / safe in a crowd. Some while back, didn't Micky Simmons, the highly respected Cray Keeper once set aside his keeping gloves to grapple with two highly respected Stones supporters behind the goal, and Simmonds was one of the better balanced Cray players.....

I remember the Chipstead midfielder who got sent off and thumped Two of our supporters en route to the changing room and they hadn't even said anything.

Wasn’t it last year the Hendon keeper kept getting called a fat bastard. We missed one pen and he saved the other then he turned round and said not bad for a fat bastard. 10 out of 10

Funny, I don't remember the Chairman of Crystal Palace apologising to Cantona...

At Upton Park we used to applaud the opposition keeper as he walked towards the goal in the second half, and they usually acknowledged the applause - a nice tradition. I assume West Ham aren't the only club to do this?
Of course, after this, it was back to torrents of abuse...

Doesn't matter when it happened. It shows the illegal racist crap he has had to endure. If anything, the fact it happened before reinforces why his tolerance level may not have been high at BW. I like a bit of goalie banter, but if you said that to his face in the street you would end up on your arse.

The odd thing about him was that I remember his hair and his girth, but it never occurred to me that he was black/brown/whatever he is.
Surely, we've stopped noticing the colour of players by now? After all, it's only been 50 years or so, and we all work/travel with/live next door to 'coloured' people. Some of us even quite like them!
It's almost as if they are exactly like us...

Ad far as I am concerned there are only two races on Earth these being men and women and trying to work out the latter is hard enough without worrying what bleeding colour they are
