With any karma it will be a dull 0 - 0. If that was aimed at me then it was today and Carlisle won 1-0, scoring in the 90th minute. Karma. Aye.

Anyway. Great result. Very cheery reading on the mean terraces of Gresty Road.

Wrong about Romain's goal, it seems. Those sort of challenges on the keeper rarely allowed. About as right as I was re attendance too. The queue was due to turnstile problems. Ho Hum, a win is a win! Not the first time we can't get into a Macclesfield game on time.

The first half wasn't that bad - just that one defensive cock-up (we'd have been glad of just one two weeks ago!). They were pushing for an early goal and our defence wasn't as solid as at Barnet (home v away again?). But, apart from that, I thought it was quite an improvement on recent home form. But absolutely NO complaints about the second half, we were superb. That free kick was just brilliant - especially as an equaliser. This may have been a crap season (until recently, at least), but it's been a cracker for spectacular goals. And it knocked the wind out of Macclesfield completely. I actually started feeling sorry for them! You wouldn't wish the season they're having on anyone (except Gills, of course), especially following on from last season. Both 'disallowed goals' looked good to me. Not only did the first look over the line, but our players clearly thought it was. I might turn out that the ref was right for the 2nd, but from where we sit it looked like they brought their own keeper down. The 'choir' were superb again today - even had the main stand singing! The Macc fans looked overwhelmed with the noise coming from the other part of the EE during the second half. I can't believe, even after the last three games, that we're going to stand up to Wrexham, but, from what I've seen so far this season, there don't appear to be any really outstanding teams, so who knows. At least we should give them a much better game than anyone would have expected a month ago. A nice easy home draw for R2 - and then on to glory in the third round! Wrong again! The manager & 99% of people disagree. We were awful in the first half.

I take it that Walton is suspended for Round 2 (though available for any replay) for reason of having picked up his 2nd yellow card in this season's competition? That would be a shame - not something I expected to hear myself saying until the second half yesterday. Previously I regarded Walton as an opposition goal waiting to happen (indeed, it did happen again yesterday), but in the second half, from the Town End, I could see that he cleared away Macclesfield attack after Macclesfield attack. He even crossed my mind as being MoM, but he was still behind Cassidy and Romain for their work rates.

Anyone else notice the verbals and hand gestures between their keeper and defenders, several times. They didn't look like a unified team.
