Just passed the pilot on upper stone Street and saw it was boarded up! Must have been recent as it did not look like that on Sunday

Very sad. It only reopened recently. My favourite pub in Maidstone by a long way.

I'll see what I can find out on this, but I thought i heard short while back it was changing ownership so refurb etc was planned. Things could have moved on though of course. One things for sure, I can't see how opening 2.5 days a week was in any way profitable.

Very honest and genuine I thought

turns out it has been closed for a few weeks, it was only last week that they finally boarded it up Sounds horribly like the end. RIP the best pub in Maidstone. It's fate was effectively sealed when they put the one-way system in and 'improved' the Knightrider St/Sittingbourne Rd junction - thereby cutting Upper Stone St off from Lower Stone St, and the rest of the town centre. Who the hell will want to go to a pub (or sundry shops) on the edge of an urban racetrack? I suppose it's a mark of just what a good pub it was that, despite the demise of the entire row of shops it was part of, it's actually lasted this long.
