Right, so I've found an old programme from Liverpool vs Everton and it has a couple of signatures I've been trying to identify and was hoping you lot would be able to help...
I'm 99% sure the one on the left is Liverpools Billy Liddell. He's not in the line up for the game but its unlikely to be anyone else, but the one above is harder to read. It starts 'Best Wishes,' and the looks like 'Rui Boule....' but I can't find anything even vaguely similar.
Can anyone with exceptional football knowledge identify that first name??

Definitely Billy Liddell, but bearing in mind he was 55 at the time and left Liverpool 17 years earlier - the other one could be anybody!

Wow! Can't believe you got it from that! I was nowhere near, but I agree that looks right for Phil Boersma! How did you figure it out? With Billy Liddell, I assume at this stage he was an ambassador or guest of honour... long retired at this point as you say!

Boersma had also left the club by then, so they were more likely just there as spectators.
Figuring it out...just thought of ex players whose name began with Bo. Googled - optimistically - Boersma autrograph, and the result was good!
The 'best wishes' at the top threw me for a bit, thought we may have been looking at it the wrong way and it might have said Williams!
Confident on Boersma, given the overall style of the autograph - the best wishes bit on top of the name, etc.

He made upward of 450+ appearances for Liverpool too so it's no surprise he was welcome back long after he'd stopped playing. Boersma however.... no idea why he'd be there!

Ex players get an allocation of tickets for cup finals and the like, so probably just popped along for a jolly.

I thought that programme looked really old and dated and then I read the date and realised that it was a game which Everton appeared to have won at the end before the ref disallowed what looked a good goal. So that dated programme was from a match I am old enough to remember. How depressing!
