That game means nothing Warm up for the players Social for the supporters Anyone that reads anymore into it is an idiot! Today wasn't just a "pre-season friendlies mean nothing" game, it was a larruping by a team that looked far more than one division above us. And, with very few exceptions, our players looked very poor. Not saying it means anything, just, personally, it was very disappointing. But I've been watching pre-season games for over 35 years and I can't recall one as disappointing as this. I'm pretty sure I remember getting stuffed 8-0 by the Gills at London Road back in the day, which was a shocking performance by anybody's standards.

Overall the squad is so weak and you could tell before Barnet. Look at the players Barnet had on trial compared to Ryman level losers were looking at. I wasn't that impressed with josh hare either, Tom wraight didn't even touch the ball mostly thanks to some incompetent left back, who I hope we never see again. Also what are we doing about a sub keeper this year, Barnet had 3 every good keepers all over 6 and half foot, be nice to have some competition for worgs this year. What did the management even see in those trialists? The supporters team would of done better. A comment PMH would have been very proud of. In fact, it could almost be written by him... Oh maybe I should get a ban for announcing my opinion.

Can someone remind me why we let BJT go? Crimes against fashion. Docked two weeks wages and added to the transfer list.

anyhow seems like very few trialists who played are likely to make the cut Jay tried out 8 on Saturday and looks like only Pringle and Campbell impressed him (KentOnline)

Critical analysis pmsl that by definition would be a realistic and even handed appraisal of the facts, not DaveUs much maligned amber tinted specs our your usual depths of despair in defeat but somewhere in between

It wasn't great but what were people expecting? We'd been training for a week, getting on for half the team in both halves hadn't played together before, and both halves were loaded with trialists. It was an exercise in weeding out those who weren't up to the required standard and if the only trailist who gets another go is the no.7 from the second half it will have been a success in that respect. Most of the regular squad didn't come out of it too badly apart from being a little rusty and lacking in sharpness. I still think we look somewhat lightweight at RB if Seth gets injured, but I'm certainly not gonna get too despondent on the basis of a poor performance in what wasn't much more than a trail match.

Pringle (number 8 in the first half) and Campbell (number 7 in the second half) were the two that impressed me and look as though they could be decent additions to the squad. As for the others Williams (number 10 in second half looked ok but was easily outmuscled and we have a number of better midfield options), Dias (number 7 in first half) had an absolute mare, Fox (number 3 in first half) seemed to struggle as did Dickenson (number 6 first half) and Toure (number 20 second half) and the goalie Thomas didn't cover himself in glory in the second half. I think in the VCD game that we might see Capel get some game time and maybe Taylor as well, unless Jay has found any other players to have a look at, maybe see the availability of some of those Barnet players, they used 33 with 2 trialists, you can only have what 16/18 in your game day squad so maybe a loan deal for one/two of them. We used 22 players 8 of which were trialists so still need a bit more depth and there are a few experienced guys on that Barnet team, obviously we won't get Akinde Santos etc but there are a couple who we could offer more regular football to for a few months, however what I don't know is how loans work with the financial structure of the club.

Careful, JDH, you'll give yourself brainache worrying about all these permutations! Has no one mentioned to you that we have a manager who can take all the worry off your shoulders?
