Hi,
Joined a few weeks ago and thought I'd introduce myself properly. As my username suggests, I grew up in Barming and used to watch the Stones regularly when I was a kid (first games were in 1980, I think, a 4-1 win against Redditch and a 6-0 against Bath City) and I went to most home games until I went away to university in 1987. Some great memories in there, the best of all, fairly predictably, being the night at Priestfield when Frank Ovard's lob sealed the cup win against Gillingham.
I've lived abroad for most of the intervening 30 years but have always kept an eye on results, hoping against hope that the reborn club would fight its way back up the pyramid and finally have a decent stadium back in the town itself. I have many fond memories of walking down Queen's Road on a Saturday afternoon in happy anticipation.
I'm going to be back in the area for the first time in many years at the beginning of August and I'm hoping the fixtures computer will be kind and throw up a convenient match.
