It appears that K's will be ground sharing at Leatherhead next season while they investigate possibilities of a new ground closer to home or a return again as tenants at Kingsmeadow with Chelsea . A site in Chessington or a possible move in to the athletic stadium adjacent to Kingsmeadow being the preferred options .

From what I've read, Wimbledon seem to have behaved very fairly and generously in all this, but it still leaves an odd taste in the mouth.

Wimbledon want to be or seen as behaving in a fair manner but doing what is right for there club . Another time or place what would we have done at Sittingbourne or what did we do at Dartford .

I know - difficult decisions with horrible resonances for us. And, as far as I can find out, Wimbledon have always done the decent thing. But the end result is first Kingstonian's ground becomes Wimbledon's (like what we did to Dartford with the yellow paint everywhere), and then they lose their ground. Maybe it would have happened anyway? But if I were a Kingstonian fan I might wish I'd never heard of Wimbledon.

After all the acquired the ground from Kingstonian in highly dodgy circumstances in the first place.

Whatever the ifs and buts of this, even if Wimbledon hadn't sold the ground (or the lease - an hour of reading later, and I'm still confused!) to Chelski, Kingstonian would have found themselves in the ironic situation where they couldn't afford to lease/rent their 'own' stadium.
Wimbledon had to improve the stadium so much to meet League minimums, that you now have a ground with a capacity of nearly 5,000 (and over 2,000 seats), and a club who's average gate is less than 300 (and who's fans recently voted 2-1 not to take over the club).
Leaving aside Wimbledon's actions, it seems to have been an all too familiar story - small club overreaches, gets into financial trouble, gets taken over by dodgy geezer, loses ownership of it's ground, ends up ground sharing miles from home, hype about new ground comes to nothing, fade to black.
