Quite a few mentions of a ground share with us being to expensive, makes me think they actually approached us about the idea.
Surely Ashford sharing with us would pretty much signal the end for them. Heck when we played there our crowds hit an all time low & we had bigger fan base than Ashford.

Very depressing. I remember going to the old Ashford for a cup game back in the 80s and it seemed a perfectly decent ground and club. How did it end up like this? (Rhetorical - I'm not sure I really want to know, I've had my fill of depressing football stories recently.)

I wouldn't be so sure. They still have to do remedial work on the pitch. They are only allowed to finish the season there after the FA granted them special dispensation to use it. Could be a busy and expensive close season for them if they want to be playing at Homelands next season.
