I think my previous posting surrounding sending Jay upstairs might not be so ludicrous now aye!
Piss poor tactics, piss poor in the transfer market and signing a winger slash forward who will no doubt be no better than what we have got.
do us a favour jay

Add in factors of the cracked record ,he can't do anything to change it and his admittance he needs leaders as they don't have one ,when that's a managers job to lead and motivate as much as any on field captain. I feel sorry for Jay I honestly do in that he's got us up and then gets given a budget not much better than a Ryman prem club ,I've been critical of signings but that's all he could afford . Poor Jay this season has been like going on a holiday of a lifetime and then being told you've got f**k all spending money when you've got there . If we're to stay up its down to the owners to stop paying peanuts and get a couple or three decent players in . The owners will say No point in sending Jay upstairs as it will cost to much . Send him to the new stand it will be empty next season .

We're also getting to the stage where we'll have to pay out cash on transfer fees for better players, agents' fees, golden hellos etc etc

I always thought that being sent upstairs in this sense was something that you did to loyal servants of the club towards the end of their career such as Bobby Robson not some half-arsed "I think you should be sacked but I haven't got the bottle to do it in case I am wrong" personnel management practice.
I think we can all agree that the team is underfunded in comparison to some others, particularly the full time professional question which will undoubtedly attract the better players, so until that changes whoever the manager is they will be swimming against the tide.
Perhaps what should be looked at is what can be done to help Jay develop as a tactician and manager? Surely there isn't anybody who believes he has achieved his full potential in that respect?

I think your timing is out pmh
Oliver Ash has done great for the club and he is seriously ambitious
It is true our playing budget is below average for the National
Probably the main reason for the squad lacking the qualities to prosper in this league at present
Just a question of simple economics/business really
The new stand is a long term investment in the well being and future prosperity of the club
Bear in mind without it, we would have been relegated at the end of the season notwithstanding where we finished in the league
So no choice really, together with the grants available for stadium improvement it is the right way to go
Player investment will come but not before 17/18 whatever league we are in
Just a pity we have some supporters who don't share the vision and ambitions of our owners, preferring to moan from the sidelines
For me and my mates who I go along with, we are in for the long haul, no matter what happens this season

No point posting rational arguments on this forum Nick. It just isn't the place for it.

No we won't your wrong ...The owners won't let us get that far as they know serious investment is needed in the team ,they are only interested in capital investment at the stadium ,relegation suits them Capital investment in the stadium is essential to have a fighting chance of avoiding relegation - without it, so far as I understand it, we could have the best squad in the league and the largest playing budget and win the title and the league will still relegate us! Investment in playing budgets is the short term solution for the glory hunters who demand instant success for nothing. Investment in stadia and infrastructure are the building blocks for the long term future and prosperity of the club. You really seem to lack a basic grasp of the situation pmh. If we do go down this season - its not the end of the world - we've then built the infrastructure we need for a better attempt next season. I also think relegation and a title fight next season might be better for attendances than survival and another relegation scrap next season. Its not to say its what we want - just that its not the end of the world, and even with relegation we continue to move forwards which is the most important thing for the club.

Would it really hurt them to get at least 3 decent players for Jay around January? We've worked hard to get to this level I'm sure Oliver and Terry would be very disappointed if we when down without putting up a fight. At the moment we deserve relegation, we are a poor side.

We are not to know at this stage but will shortly find out. I think 'the opposition' to his point of view would be much more inclined to take it on board if pmh would put his point across with a little less blame attached to it (blame might not be quite the right word). The owners have the figures in from of them, and to get to where they want us to be in 5 years time (maybe the football league, maybe a stable and sustainable National League top half team) it might be best to risk relegation and invest little at this stage. They are in it for the "long game" and the promotions have been a bonus to this point. Keeping he fans coming through the door might be the tricky aspect.

I remember the original post which said something like " 3 promotions and cup in 4 seasons does not make you a good manager ". Post should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Only the drama queen talks of oblivion and a financial meltdown..... No one wants that ,that would be terrible ...but would a couple or three really good signings break the bank ..and send us back to homelessness again,no it wouldn't , It would give Jay and the team a massive boost,I'm sure it could be balanced slightly with a departure or two .

When it later became evident that Paul didn't in fact have the means to build a stadium, and that the money had simply disappeared (along with the 100K council loan) on debts and running costs, Oliver could have cut his losses and walked away. If he had done that and 'called in' his loan, Maidstone United FC would have ceased to exist once again. Faced with the decision to do a runner or throw everything he had at it, fortunately for all of us he decided to go for it and along with Terry coming on board, did just that by building a stadium that cost millions. In my view, Oliver has every right to feel that the huge investment he made is just that, i.e. an investment. Without him, take it from me, this football club would not exist, or it would have gone under and then started all over again somewhere - in the Southern Counties League, probably. There is another fact you are forgetting which pretty much blows your argument out of the water anyway. As you know, we had to build the new stand in order to stay in this division. Faced with the hard fact that not enough money could be raised to pay for it by other means, Oliver and Terry have had to reluctantly put more of their own money in to make it happen. One or both of them could have refused to do that. The fact they did not refuse shows 100% they do want to stay in this division if at all possible, otherwise, why bother? Try to keep things in perspective and just be grateful you have a decent level of football to watch in the town.
