Per the NLP, Ashford United have missed the chance of being promoted out of the SCEPrem because their application was lost in the post.
Manager Danny Lye said to be 'disappointed' .
Interestingly, other sides applying for promotion out of that league are apparently Croydon, Corinthian, Crowborough, Hollands, Sevenoaks, Sheppey & Whitstable.

Rules are rules - but Ashford have earned the right surely to play at a higher level by now?

Rules are rules - but Ashford have earned the right surely to play at a higher level by now? Probably not. They are an absolute shambles with this latest episode being just another example of the mismanagement of the club. They still haven't paid for the 3G pitch which is why they no longer own the ground. There is also a rumour that the pitch needs relaying and that the ground needs so much maintenance work doing that it's unlikely to pass the grading anyway and Danny Lye seems to be funding some of the players' wages out of his own pocket. I really feel for the fans. They've been royally shafted ever since the infighting between the two owners when we ground shared there, and nothing seems to have improved in the intervening years. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they failed to start next season in any league.

I am not sure but I think they only sent the paperwork off 2 days before the deadline anyway.

Think they used the D Team to do the job.
