Bloody hell - it's true! I thought it was a joke or a wind-up, especially when the twitter comments vanished. In 50+ years of watching football, I've never heard of anything as daft as this. Just how much abuse can one person get in 12 minutes??

Educated fans at Holmer Green - just noticed the match report included the word 'peremptorily'!
Humbling moment when I had to look this up...

For Maidstone Supporters who've been a long time on this journey, the nearest thing I can remember vaguely like this is Mr A S H Ash United ( who we played in the FA Cup in 2004 / 5 ) who would shout A S H Ash United at their games. This guy was a postman IIRC who would also deliver written reprimands to the homes of players who had, in his view, played poorly. A total pain in the ...................

I've re-read that several times and I can't make it fit into the context of the sentence. Did Elvis once get "Sent off (so to speak)" once for being rather impolite to a ref/lino?

Probably jt, his knowledge of football was keen but the language often really poor, blue in fact just like a smurf.

Elvis either got booked or sent from the dugouts at London Road once because we had two sets of dugouts. We had the new ones in which players were sitting but there were some brick ones over the other side. Elvis had sat in there to shelter from rain. When he was shouting abuse at the ref the ref duly issued a card and he left the dugout. A great moment in our rise up the leagues.
