just saw an article on bob lasletts outgoings at margate. he says he's put 2.5 million into the club over the last 2 years, which doesn't seem to be such a huge amount compared against the likes of us or ebbsfleet. one thing that confuses me a bit though is where has the money been spent? surely this can't be just players budgets? he certainly hasn't spent it on ground improvements. if that's just on buying and playing players, then the rumours about £1000 per week for some of their players seems like an underestimation. going on that figure a 26 man squad would be on around £1200 a week for 40 weeks a year. can't see what else he's spent the money on, or am i missing something. here's the story for anyone that wants to read it; www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Margate-chairman-reveals-cost-owning-club/story-28584603-detail/story.html

Certainly not on Ground improvements, although haven't Margate just bought the freehold of Hartsdown allowing them full scope to build a super stadium in the future ?

A decent amount of Bob Lasletts investment was spent on rectifying the mess the previous regime had put Margate FC in.Sadly far too much of the money has also been used to line players pockets and fund a base away from Thanet for training. As for Hartsdown Park, the local council over there should take a lot of the blame for the continuing ramshackle state of the place. It seems wrong that Margate have to improve their gates up to around 1300 before the council will agree the football clubs plans for ground improvements.

2.5 million all on the playing budget FACT! I haven't a clue what it costs us to get promoted but 2.5 for 1 promotion to van south? Think of what could have done with that money!
