So the idea of Step 6 was, especially in Kent & The South East, to provide a bridge between parks football and the Kent/SEC League. Strict ground grading standards were set for Step 6, including floodlights which had to be installed within a certain time.
Now ( according to today's NLP ) a total of 51 Step 6 clubs who faced being booted back down to Step 7 because their grounds didn't come up to scratch are being given a further breathing space / reprieve of 3 years.
Apparently this 'reprieve' will benefit more than half of the teams in The Kent Invicta League.
How do you feel if you are Lydd or Holland's or Sheppey and have gone through a ball breaking fund raising exercise to install lights only to find out it wasn't necessary ? OK, it's necessary if you want to progress to Step 5 & beyond but not everyone wants that & only one team ( if that ) goes up anyway.
Well done FA - another compromise / cock up !

The Kent Invicta League was a complete fudge in the first place. There were never enough clubs of the required standard. In an ideal world the Kent and Sussex County would have merged, with maybe the top clubs from the KCL, creating a step 5 and 2 step 6 divisions.
