I'm a Gills fan, most of all I'm a Kent football supporter. Lived in Maidstone for years and always was pissed off because alot of people from Maidstone supported Charlton.
I used to frequent the Cherry Tree in Barming and I used to say I was a Gills fan and generally got a lukewarm reception. It was warm, but it was lukewarm. At the time noone took you seriously because you didnt have a ground in your own town. Anyway aside from all of that everyone was in agreement that we need to compete. The Gills need Maidstone FC as much as you need us.
We have been waiting for you for years, your our only true rival. My first gills game was Boxing day 1989 and you beat us, it was packed, really packed.
I'm looking forward to you moving into our fanbase taking over our turf and battling us for support on a level footing.
Good luck against Wrexham, the third round draw awaits, you understand what that means, Wrexham are easily winnable, I hope you do it.
To play Maidstone in the professional league would be a total sell out in a heartbeat for the gills no matter what anyone says.
Now come on..... keep it going, move forward and upward and lets set Kent football alight.
As a lifelong Gills supporter, we want, we need, we hope, we love, we hate and we wait for you in anticipation. Come and get us, please....

Can I piss off supporters of both the Stones and Gi*lls by saying I have a season ticket at The Valley? 19 championship games for 200 quid. And I hope The mighty stones do indeed meet the Scally lot in the league soon. It'll be a great conference encounter.

Yep see you in the conference in a couple of seasons!.Reckon you will get to us sooner!!
Movement into your fanbase started 3 seasons ago ,keep up.
Suppose its another recognition of being "back" ,having a Gills fan wishing us up the leagues.

(8 miles apart) Jeeps, I used to live just round the corner from the Cherry Tree (Fant Lane). If I had known that you were in there I would have got my father's gun etc etc. Heh, heh, don't worry, I never met my father so I am presuming he still has the gun. Thanks for the post and believe me The Stones have been trying to come and play you at the same level for years. It's just taken a lot of time to get through various leagues and planning permission things and raise money etc etc. We have played you in a couple of friendlies in the past, drawing 0-0 in the first one and holding you to a 5-0 defeat in the second one. I was also there in 1989 and can remember the excitement of that game. Hopefully we will share a pint and some stories at a league game in the not too distant future Incidentally, I nearly came to the Bristol City cup game recently and have to say, that as someone who works with children/young people, I was very impressed with your club's policy on entry to the ground for disadvantaged kids.

I haven't been in the Cherry Tree for years, even though I only live just down the road - would I be correct in saying that Steve Butler's mum used to be a cleaner there, and when he scored his eight goals in one bank holiday weekend for Cambridge he gave one of the match balls to the pub for display?

If this Is this general not just on the pitch, the Stones win all day due to their business model and great owners compared to Paul Scally. I will however hopefully enjoying Gills fine hospitality later on the season when I start living the high life.
