It's called marketing. There is a benefit to MUFC if hundreds of club members renew every year. Not just financial, but the ability to communicate directly to paying customers. Whether you like it or not, these people are the future of Maidstone United.

I would have thought all people are the future of Maidstone United, aylesford. If we are going to give the money made on the fan club membership sales away to induce people to join again, in the event of no cup run, then why not make the fan club free. More people would join and you would have more details to make offers etc etc

If it was about tickets AND TRAVEL then it was on track, Toon. Myself and aylesford were debating subsidising of coaches

I would normally agree and defend the club against those who want something for nothing. However, this is an important moment of celebration on MUFC's return to being established again at a higher level with their own ground etc. If a little of the very large sum made from this cup run could go towards a small subsidy for away coaches, that would be a great way to reward fans old and new, and build numbers of away fans on the day. Just a thought. I'm pretty sure the price is already subsidised. Not convinced a tenner per person covers the full cost of hiring a coach. Correct Dave

Surely free coaches would wipe out all the money made on fan club membership sales? This would have a detrimental effect on the expansion of the ground. Surely £10 for a coach isn't much to ask? Who said anything about free? I said a small subsidy, which as Dave suggests may be the case anyway. I would like to see £5 a head to really get a crowd up there, but that is a matter for the club. A lot of people have joined the official club to get tickets. If they are not to drift away next year if there is no cup run, there will need to be a feeling of getting a few perks from time to time. The owners come across as pretty clued up, so will no doubt have thought about it. Actually my initial post was in response to sharpy's suggestion that the club "lay on a couple of free coaches"

Correct Dave I wonder how many of those that were telling us, last week, that £15 is nothing to pay for ticket priority because the money gets put into ground improvement will happily use a subsidised coach without making up the difference.

The club would receive half the price of all ticket sales from the free coach travel. Out of the 100 or so on the said coaches would in reality make their own way there ? 10, 20 at most.

This "shall I go to the game or watch Maidstone United on BBC2 Wales?" dilemma is still a bit too surreal for my tiny mind...

I said if they had to make their own way there. But i suppose the club would put on at least one coach any way at full price.
