Think you'll be surprised how basic the facilities are in Maidstone. First priority was to get home, with comforts to be added later. Station and loads of pubs walkable.
It would be a miracle if there were any serious players have not trained on 3G yet, and you really forget it's not grass (apart from the rubber cloud when the ball bounces.
The only ones who will be happy with today's score are that lot down by the seaside, but at least our fixture backlog is caused by success and not rain. Happy days.

Our gaffer is pretty good at research and the only excuse he uses is the officials (who honestly seem to have it in for us most of the time haha). It should be a learning curve for our lads. Is it your manager that's goes on talksport?

A fantastic day out,and a great result,if its TV game its job done,we wont win the replay i didn't think we would win today,Stevenage will know all about us now.
the view from the seat was fantastic, but very surprised at the basic setup ,no bar, one loo and a tiny little burger/tea bar.
To think of all of our catering and bars that are on offer ,at ours i was truly gagging for a pint and the pie deal, any travelling Stevenage fans will be very surprised,And we have all our town center pubs and bars less than 8 minutes walk away, they seemed very friendly so i doubt we would segregate, but i wonder what Police advice would be

Does 3G give a home advantage?
One way of deciding this would be to see if we win more often at home than other clubs - is our home/away win ratio any better than other similar clubs?
This is what the stats say:
Looking at the top 10 clubs in the IPL at nearly the half-way stage, the average home/away ratio of points is 1.6 (i.e. the club wins, on average, 1.6 times as many points at home as it does away).
Our ratio is 1.3 - so, whilst we do score more points at home, compared to away (as you would expect), our ratio is less than the average. We do almost as well away - our home advantages do not seem to affect our results that much.
Hendon and Grays also have a ratio of 1.3, and several clubs do better than us at home, compared to away. Margate and Dulwich have a ratio of 1.5, Wingate 1.8, Peacehaven 2.4, and Plod have a massive home win ratio of 3.4 (23 points from 8 games at home and only 6 from 8 away!).
The other two clubs in the top 10, Leiston and Bognor, actually have a ratio of less than 1 (i.e. they win more away than at home) - both 0.9.
So, put more simply, in terms of apparent home advantage, we are joint 5th, with two other clubs winning at home more than away as much as us, and 5 clubs doing 'better' than us.
So, no, on this basis, our 3G pitch most certainly does NOT give us an advantage.

I have a funny feeling that our 3g pitch will encourage the BBC to screen it live If it is televised its probably more likely to be on BT Sport, as the schedule on their website says they are due to cover a First Round Replay that week.

I'm not sure if it's just the way the articles I found are worded but it looks to me as though only BT are broadcasting any replays? I could be completely wrong on that though.

Stevenage fan in peace
Firstly want to start off by saying congratulations on the result today, you made us look ordinary for the majority of the game without really having to up yours. From a Stevenage point of view of our play was sloppy and uncontrolled with passes going to nowhere and our boys hoofing the ball whenever they felt a little lost (which was all too often). Have to say neither team really deserved a win today but it would have been cruel if either of our late chances had crept in.
In defence of our attendance, when we've been to bigger teams down the years in the cup (eg Leicester, Spurs, Everton etc) their home ends were usually pitifully empty whilst we almost always sold out our away allocation. Without meaning to sound big headed in terms of the number of leagues between us this would have been like our lot going to Southampton, we'd take loads but I can hardly see their end being capacity. Our team is struggling for form and considering we have local teams like Luton, Watford, Arsenal and Tottenham to compete with for fans gettimg high average attendances has never been easy.
Still well done on the terrific atmosphere, it was my girlfriend 's match today and despite the 0-0 scoreline she loved the atmosphere especially from your end.
Looking forward to (dreading) coming to your place for the replay.
Quick question, how different really is the 3G pitch from grass?
(Just doing NWS's selective reading approach for him. But I think he's still sulking as he didn't get a ticket)
You're right fl, I can imagine for your newbies especially, nothing very exciting about playing a non-league club.
I disagree with your comment elsewhere about us getting no further than Conf S though. Mid-table Conf in about 5-8 years time I'd say. How do you see Stevenage's future - which end of League 2 would you say an exit is more likely? Good enough for a future promotion push or not?
It was a grand day out yesterday, tidy little ground though as mentioned elsewhere catering a bit basic for a large crowd.
Re how does the pitch play - watch some of the highlights on mufctv.co.uk and see for yourself.

Don't get me wrong I do think you guys will reach the conference but staying there is hard enough let alone promotion. The two up thing has always irked me. As for Stevenage, I think we'll be in the relegation zone by new years day then go on an in impressive run to hit the playoffs by early April before collapsing away to midtable obscurity. If we do get relegated though it will be nice to revisit the non league atmosphere

There are probably 2 worse sides than you in League 2. Surprised that it's currently Tranmere and Hartlepool (Maidstone fans who remember Hartlepool undeservedly getting re-elected when we were Gola League champions about 30 years ago, will have a wry smile if they go down...)
Seems to be a lot of unrest / discontentment / rage on your forum at the moment?
