Where have all the kestrals gone? There used to be loads along main roads and motorways. I saw one today and that's the 1st for a long time. Anyone know?

I can't believe none of you lot give a damn about kestrals. Is there something bigger going on? Are you honestly telling me you don't miss the imminent swooping pounce of a bird of prey as you drive across God's land?

I love a kestrel me! Probably to do with the return of so many other species of birds of pray to the south east. The kestrel flourished in there absence. Birds like Falcons and buzzards.

An honest inquiring thread turned into an alcoholics assumption and question time. Hiccup.
You wouldn't catch me doing this.
I think and I've heard that kestral demise is down to Magpie's.

Nicking eggs! Must be something else. The red kite isn't persecuted anymore and much more common.

I saw two red kite soaring over the M4 on my way back from Cardiff last weekend - which I thought was unusual. You see a lot of buzzards doing the same these days. What's more of a mystery is the decline of the house sparrow - an adaptable little blighter usually.

Exactly, I saw a red kite acting the same as a kestral (hovering, waiting) next to jct22 on M1 yesterday.

It's funny reading back on this. There was a red kite riding the thermals over the pub at stevenage on Saturday.
