Maybe intemperate but as far as I can see doesn't stray beyond the boundary the club is trying to set, that some few in the town end are so up in arms about.

Nuneaton Borough - are you sure?
I remember Altrincham and Kettering as being the teams to beat in the early-mid 80s, then later it was Enfield.
As for the loony drummers - perhaps they took pity on us? I'm not sure I could have taken another 15 minutes of that. I had to go and get chips, just in case.
Or maybe I'd slipped into a parallel dimension by then? After all, I swear I heard the announcer say "at half time - that's before the second half starts".

Yes indeed: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983%E2%80%9384_Alliance_Premier_LeagueThere was a "showdown" at Nuneaton in the last midweek fixture of the season - we had to avoid defeat and drew 2-2. They won their final game on a Friday night (I think) and that meant we had to get a point from our last home game the following day. We won 6-0 against Telford. Don't remember if there was a band on that day though.

Town end or seated main stand ,or even in the bar after the game ,ALL fans, and players have a responsibility to behave.
The ugly episode in the bar after full time yesterday could and should of been avoided.
